ABANDONED. X-files type book for children, two detectives, paranormal events that they go and investigate, black woman and a man (blonde haired?) large series of books, with illustrations and science fiction feel.

Thanks! It's funny how much information about books you read as a child you can retain.
In each of the books the detectives would get sent on a mission to investigate paranormal /strange events and would solve the issue by the end of the book. Btw these books were not that long probably under 50 pages long. I can only remember a few examples of the plots of these books, one of then was about some kind of cult that worshipped the devil. Tthe detectives got brought in after this girl was mugged and got her hair shaved off. The book ended with the detectives going to the cults ritual on Halloween and the main villain (which I also think was their boss?) was being worshipped but then before a proper confrontation the two detectives both woke up in a hospital or something.
Another book which I can remember in a lot less detail focused around human spliced with animals and there was a lady who was part giraffe with a long neck.
In the title I described the series as 'like the x-files' because I am pretty certain on the cover (which had the same layout on each book, with a bit underneath that was specific to what that book was about) there was a large 'x' with a hyphen and then a word that I can't remember. I think the covers had a red grey colour scheme.
The two detectives worker for some kind of agency (?) and one was a black dark haired woman with a no nonsense attitude and the other I think was a blonde haired man and I think the possibly evil boss had glasses.
The books were set in the modern day as guns and modern technology was used.
I will try and remember more details but I don't want it start imagining stuff myself...
