Iliana (ilianak) | 1 comments Seriously, all the platforms I know allow their members to freely add books to the database like responsible grown-ups, which I find good (yes, I'm a libertarian). They have, you know, a magical trick to avoid any abuse by spammers: you'll have to enter the ISBN and if it exists, voilà! the book is added. Now, since June 2022, you have to wait for weeks to see books added - if they ever are! - which is crazy. You just can't expect volunteers to do all the work. It's completely unrealistic and the result will at best be arbitrary (I've seen how a self-published book on some insane conspiracy topic was added in a matter of hours, while serious academic books start turing yellow on their shelves). So: why can't Goodreads do like others do: if the ISBN exists, then the book can be added by anybody?

We don't work for Goodreads or have any say into policies and procedures. You will need to contact staff directly.
