Jan (jan130) | 2667 comments Magnate by Joanna Shupe. Gilded Age in America. One of this author's better books IMO.
Magnate (The Knickerbocker Club, #1) by Joanna Shupe

Hester Waring's Marriage by Paula Marshall. Set in old Sydney town (Australia), when the heroine makes a marriage of convenience with Tom Dilhorne, an incredibly talented up-and-coming businessman who is making his fortune in Sydney, after starting with nothing. It's a little old-fashioned in writing style, but a really good story.

Lauren | 1369 comments This book is on my TBR : Convergence of Desire by Felicity Niven
I don't know if it counts. He needs her money (fortune hunter) so it's a MOC. Let me know if this fits the category!

Lauren | 1369 comments I'll nominate : A Promise of More by Bronwen Evans. It can be read as a standalone.

The Reluctant Countess by Wendy Vella, since I wasn't sure if Convergence of Desire counted.

And novella: The Devil and the Viscount by Mary Lancaster

Hi Lauren. I have looked at the synopsis for 'Convergence of Desire' and it does seem to fit the brief - hero needs to marry a rich woman to reverse the fortunes of his inherited estate. Which one would you like to nominate - 'Convergence of Desire ' or The Reluctant Countess'?

Hi Jenny. I have looked at the synopsis for 'Inventing the Viscount' and it does not appear to meet the brief (gaining wealth as the main theme). It does appear to be a marriage of convenience trope, but I could not that either character required money in particular. However, sometimes the synopsis does not always capture the essence of the book, so let me know if you think it fits and I will leave it. Thanks!!

Lauren | 1369 comments I guess I'll pick Convergence Of Desire since it's already on my tbr.
