Sidney peeked through the window at the Cafeteria. Because it was late afternoon, the sun streaming through the room gently, there were a few students-- all different species. A witch was sitting with a vampire and an old map lay on the table between them as they gestured and talked animatedly. There was a shapeshifter boy transforming his nose into a duck beak and then a small twitching rabbit nose, much to the delight of another girl who sat laughing beside him with green skin faintly dusted in gold glitter. Sidney paused. She wasn't feeling so hungry anymore- she rather had a thirst to see more of this academy and more of the diversity of students.
She looked at the happy scene one last time and then took out her special camera that printed off photos instantly (but it worked on magic). She snapped a picture of the Cafeteria and slipped it into her satchel and left.
Phoenix had been unable to sleep so she had been trying to find Sidney
Layla went to lthe line to get her lunch. She hadn't eaten much today, as she didn't have much time to eat a full breakfast this morning. So she was hungry. Once she got her food, she sat down at a table and began to eat.
Layla looked over, seeing Kenzi. She didn't know her, but she thought this would be a good opportunity to make a new friend at the school. She waved at her, patting the seat to indicate the she could sit next to her if she wanted.
Layla smiled at Kenzi. "Hi" she said cheerfully. She wasn't sure if Kenzi wanted to talk, but she figured that she would try to start a conversation. It was better than eating together in silence. That would be awkward.
Layla gave a small frown. She could tell by Kenzi's quiet response that she was nervous. "It's alright, you don't need to be nervous. I won't hurt you, I promise" she said. She wasn't sure if it was reassuring enough, but she was trying.
Layla shook her head. "No, it's okay! I understand. Not everyone is a social person" she said. She heard the crash of the lunch tray. She watched as a few more students, whom she assumed were the kid's friends, quickly help them clean up the mess.
Layla listened as another group of students laughed. Were they laughing because they thought that it was funny? Now those are kids that I wouldn't want to be friends with she thought. She turned to Kenzi, who was visibly shaking. "Are you okay?" she asked.
