Ash returned Nikolay's smile, pleased that he had responded so affably to her introduction. Not all the students she'd met at the academy had been very friendly. "Your accent? Are you from Russia?" She asked.

Ash was glad she'd guessed correctly, but though her smile didn't fade, her pleasure disappeared when he returned the question. How could she answer such an inquiry? She supposed honesty was the best reply. "I'm not from anywhere that has a name. I'm just a country girl from the middle of nowhere." It was a glossed over version of the truth, but nothing she said was false. "What about you? Are you from a big city or a smaller town?"

"I'm not familiar with it, but that's probably because I prefer warmer climates." Ash shrugged. The subject of music was a much easier topic to discuss, and she accepted the transition gladly. "Hmm, I don't know much about music. I like Daphnis and Chloe a lot; I think it has a dream-like feel to it. It's an older piece, composed by Ravel. I'm afraid I don't know much about modern music."

Ash was not very musically talented, but she greatly admired those that could play an instrument, sing, or both. She could hold a tune alright, but no one would ever laud her singing abilities. "Oh, how long have you been playing guitar?" She asked, excited to get to hear him play.

"Most definitely." Ash responded enthusiastically, giving him her full attention. The mention of Nikolay's foster parent did not go unnoticed, but it seemed ill-timed for her to bring it up now when he was about to play. Perhaps she'd ask him about it later. She knew it was bad manners to pry, but she was curious. The foster system, something she had managed to avoid after her parents' deaths, was something of interest to her. Maybe she wanted to know if she'd made the right choices or not.

Ash listened in silence, not wanting to interrupt. She would wait until after the song was finished to speak again, but for now, she was content to let the music weave its spell around her. Music was very dear to her, but she always felt that she had never had enough of it in her life. Consequently, anytime she was given the chance to enjoy it, she wouldn't take it for granted nor disrupt its enchantments for anything in all the worlds. When the song was finished, she applauded softly. "That's a very beautiful song; I think it's going to be one of my new favorites."

"You're welcome." She replied graciously. When he gave her an opening to ask a question, she thought a moment before replying. Would she rather discuss music or other things first? Music made sense since that was the current topic, so the foster system could wait a minute more. "Is that you favorite song?" She asked, finally settling on one question instead of bombarding Nikolay with everything she wanted to know.

"Do you have a favorite artist or genre of music?" Ash asked, letting the topic run its course. Since she knew little about music, she was afraid her questions weren't very technical nor especially original, but hopefully the fact that she was interested was what counted. Her half-sister was the musical one in the family, but Ash hadn't stuck around her long enough to learn much from her.

"Oh, cool." Ash nodded. Hard rock wasn't her preferred genre, but its lack of appeal to her specifically didn't denigrate its worth, of course. "So, did you and your foster dad get along well?" She asked, hoping she wasn't being too nosy.

"I remembered you mentioned him, and I was wondering if you had a good relationship or not. I was raised mostly by my mother, so I guess I was just curious what having a father was like for you." Ash shrugged, trying to stay on the positive side of things. There was no need to put a damper on the mood by talking about how her parents had died nor her existence as a vagabond afterwards. Everyone had their own struggles, but she oughtn't burden others with her past when they probably had painful things in their lives too.

Ash was not expecting the sudden contact, but she remained composed even so. "That's so kind of you to offer." She replied sincerely, though she knew she couldn't accept the proposition. She simply wasn't ready. "I don't think I could be adopted presently, though, but I would be very happy if we could be friends." She didn't want to hurt his feelings or offend him, but how could she explain that she didn't feel ready to welcome a new father figure into her life right now without sounding dismissive? Her father was an archangel, a lord of the skies and the heavens. Trying to replace him felt like a grave sin, like it was disrespectful to his memory after all he had sacrificed to keep her hidden and ultimately, to give her her freedom. It was true that she rarely saw him growing up, but she understood that it was all for her own protection. She only wished things had turned out differently.

Trauma? Ash wasn't sure she followed what he was saying, but at least he didn't seem to be offended. "It's no problem! I'm not as delicate as I look, so you'd have to try really hard to offend me." Also, I'm not sure I've suffered any trauma? I guess I can see how other people might think so, but I really don't feel traumatized by anything that happened. She thought, wondering what had made Nikolay bring up the subject of trauma."Well, it is a library, after all; I think dust is to be expected." She chuckled, not minding in the least. "What kinds of books do you like reading?"

Ash nodded, inspecting the cover of the book. Personally, it wasn't her taste as she preferred more light-hearted stories or traditional, medieval adventures, but she would never say as much, not wanting to sound critical of someone else's preferences. "Should I go and let you answer that?" She asked when Nikolay's phone began to ring.

Ash leaned back into her chair and averted her eyes to the shelves of books around them while Nikolay answered his phone. Her eyes again landed on the biographies section, and she scanned the titles she could read from her vantage point. There was Eve Curie's biography, which she had been debating checking out from the library though she had already read it. Sometimes there was a certain comfort from reading an old favorite that was hard to come by elsewhere. Ash supposed all creatures of habit suffered from that precise affliction. When Nikolay ended the call, Ash turned her attention back to him. She wondered who the caller had been, but she knew it would be rude to pry. In the end, good etiquette won out, and she turned the conversation back to something that had been mentioned earlier. "Do you play any instruments besides guitar?"

"Bye, Nikolay!" Ash waved after him, flashing him a cheerful smile. Once her new friend had left the library, she returned to perusing the shelves. Finally, she settled on Eve Curie's biography and checked it out from the library, exiting the building with a slight spring in her step. Anyone else in her position likely would have flown back to their dorm, but old habits died hard. Ash was too used to hiding what she was to feel comfortable displaying her wings so freely, so she walked the rest of the way back to her dorm, enjoying the fresh air from the ground.((End of RP.))

Iona was settled in a corner of the library, intently focused on the book in her hand. She was working through the first few chapters of Lord of the Flies, which were due in English later that day. The required reading assignment had slipped her mind entirely, and she was cursing herself for getting this far behind in her easiest class. Iona liked reading, but the start of this book was proving to be relatively dull. All she had to do was get through chapter 3, and she would be done with it for now.
Suddenly, books slammed down on the table next to Iona, causing her to nearly jump out of her skin. She let out a little "eep" before burying her face in her book in embarrassment.

Xiao looked up from his book, clearly annoyed by the little eep lona made, this is the library after all. He made a noise and stood up ready to move to a different table. Xiao place lord of the flies back on the shelf and stalked over to the pile of books he had left on the table where lona sat.

Ugo walked inside the library, for once, his sister wasn't around as she had other plans. He took a book about plant history and sat down on the ground, in one of the corners between two bookshelves. People may think that is weird but it doesn't matter to him, he has his reasons...

Ugo looked up from his book. A boy was sitting on a table a few feet away from him. He stood up, not feeling like getting bullied today for his 'weirdness'. He didn't know the boy but he wasn't going to risk it, so he sat down on the table, where he continued reading his book.

Ugo looked at the person informar of him, “I didn’t say anything”, he tried to sound strong but you could hear he was already kind of scared.((Sry, Ugo is soft ✋😅🤚))

Ugo didn’t anything back but also didn’t move. If you could see him behind the book, you could see his worried and uncomfortable face.

Ugo looked up so you could only see his eyes. “I’m Ugo… what’s a Tsubomi?”, he asked in a soft voice

“Oh, uh, ok. What’s your name?”, he simply asked, not bearing to move.

“That’s a cool name”, he looked more above the book so now you could see his whole face. “What are you doing here?”
