Robin has a reputation for being promiscuous with women. What did you find telling about his sexual encounter with Patty, Jane’s assistant?

[Robin]

Robin was drinking himself into being able to perform with Patty. I don't know that he could actually do that if he was sober.

[Lauren]

I think the encounter actually reveals more about Patty than Robin. She was so desperate and not a little pathetic in her obsession with him. It was obvious that she was nothing more than the latest in a long line of women yet she chose to ignore Jane's warnings.

In addition, the fact that he was drunk and she had sex with him anyway was smarmy. If it had been the other way around, it would have been sexual assault. In fact, it is sexual assault as he was not sober enough to really consent.

Robin was living down to his reputation and giving Patty what she wanted, only that was not the experience Patty expected.

Robin was oblivious to his partner, not even aware Patty hadn’t been satisfied. I missed that he needed the alcohol bolstering but that’s a great point.

As far as Patty is concerned, she really didn’t know Robin, just her idealized notion of who he was which he’d never live up to even if he was truly sexually attracted to her.

Patty is a typical groupie. She "falls in love" with someone famous. Jane warned Patty about Robin but decided to set him up anyway. She did the exact same thing that Adam did at the bar. She knew he was drunk and took him home to have sex regardless of whether he could choose what he wanted.

Robin keeps hoping to find the woman who will prove he is straight. He thought Patty could be the one. He will never find the one, male or female until he can get sober.
