Jane Mercedes Chadwick, the producer of The American Hero movie, resents being forced to accept the protection services of Troubleshooters, Inc. because of the lack of privacy and her thinking the threat is benign. She projects a party girl image to the public and home is her respite from it all, where she can be her natural homebody self. Jane believes that public image is essential to her success…did you?

I think the public image keeps her name in the papers, which may help with funding for her next project. She is seen with other successful directors and producers which puts her on the A-list. As long as her movies are making $$$, people are going to be willing to help with funding a new project.

Jane's party girl facade certainly helps to keep her in the limelight and that contributes to her success. She takes advantage of her "assets" and good for her! That said, it is unfortunate that she is not judged on her merits but on her appearance.

She was a wunderkid because her first film school movie was wildly successful, but her subsequent films weren't as successful. She cultivates the party girl image to stay in the public's eye, I get that.

It’s unfortunate that there are so few female Hollywood producers and her work isn’t enough to open doors. Obviously the party girl image was working for her so I understood it. But, it just made me sad.

Yes and angry too that our society forces women to change who they are in order to succeed.
