Stories about Cosmo Richter seem to have a life of their own among the SEAL teams. When he stayed out of sight during the one exchange at the beginning of the story, what did you think the reason was at the time? Did you believe the story was substantially true, embellished or completely false?,

Robin (robinmy) | 2450 comments Cosmo knows about the story. I think he wanted to see how it got bigger and bigger with each telling. He also didn't want to answer any questions and was waiting for them to move on. I figured there was a little bit of truth in the story and a whole lot of embellishment.

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 1811 comments I also thought that there was a small grain of truth to the story but even more embellishments.

As to why Cosmo remained out of sight, I think he didn't want to embarrass the newbies or perhaps scare them by emerging, lol!

Anita (anitanodiva) | 2973 comments Coamo was amazed at how this incident had grown into an urban myth, getting bigger with each retelling.

I believed there was a small grain of truth to the story, but it has been blown totally out of proportion.

I thought the bones of the story was probably true with the numbers greatly exaggerated. Cosmo was probably staying out of sight because he didn’t want to be asked about it. And, he didn’t want to embarrass these guys.

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3484 comments I thought it was one of those stories that had a life of its own. There was a kernel of truth but the details were embellished by each retelling.
