JenniferJ | 206 comments Oh no I didn't mean that in a bad way because there were some good ones on the list Donna. Just was saying none were jumping out to me at that moment because I'm a mood reader. What looks good to me one moment may not the next and vice versa. There was totally nothing wrong with the list.

LOL, I am the same way. I really wanted to give you guys variety except I didn't know there was a limit on how many books I could add to the list. Next time, I will create shelves on my profile and just point you guys to them. There don't seem to be limits on them.

If you guys need help finding books, let me know. I have no intention of reading anything today. I am recovering from round 2 of Quidditch.

message 104: by Alma (new)

Alma (almamm) | 117 comments Thanks for that idea guys. The same for me,I had a look at the list but nothing was calling me and yesterday I found one mystery book on Amazon and I have started it already. It is really good ☺️

I found my spider book at the library!

Cackle by Rachel Harrison
Cackle (Rachel Harrison)

It doesn't look toooo bad and they had the audiobook, so if it's terrible, it will be easier to get through!

JenniferJ | 206 comments Ashley how are you coming along on your last Mummy book?

message 109: by Ashley, The Tipsy Challenger (new)

Ashley Basile (smashreads) | 5805 comments Mod
mummy book was finished several days ago and I just finished my pumpkin book. I will update the spreadsheet in the morning! I think we can't start our next monster, yes?

message 110: by JenniferJ (last edited Sep 18, 2022 07:38PM) (new)

JenniferJ | 206 comments Yeah we can start our next monster book but we cant complete a new book until all books are submitted to the spreadsheet for the previous monster. I know what ya mean about getting hold to one that drags though because I am sure reading me a dragging one now. I want to dnf it so freaking bad but I need it for a challenge. LOL

OMG please let me know how this one is. I pray you like it because I also have it sitting on my shelf to read at some point. I ain't no lie ya'll I have so many freaking books I aint read on my shelves I may never read them all but yet still have to buy more. I'm so bad! LOL Is there an AA type club for this addiction?

message 115: by Alma (new)

Alma (almamm) | 117 comments Haha Goodreads 😂 JenniferJ, but that club will not help you solve the issue of having too many books on your self. Now, I want to add that book to mine too 😁.

Anyway, well done all of us 👏🏼. We can start the next monster. I will be updating the spring book probably later. I have to finish it and return it to the library.l soon.

message 116: by Alma (new)

Alma (almamm) | 117 comments Oh,probably didn’t tell you but I am done with all my books. I read about 200pages of my pumpkin book and I had to leave it as impossible. It was such a ridiculous plot.

OMG I am also working on my Spring book and it is the one that is driving me nuts because it is dragging so bad! It is way overly descriptive to the point of making me wanna throw my kindle against the wall! grrrr It is so not the story I had anticipated! :(

So, I'm about 25% in and it's good... but I'm confused. lol
It definitely is one of those books that just throws you in, but also spends a lot of words on explanation. So we're getting there...

message 119: by JenniferJ (new)

JenniferJ | 206 comments That's awesome Ashley! I hope to get to it soon! I hate books that try to explain something to death to. I feel like that was what was wrong with my spring book. It wasn't really "that" bad but was just to long for no more than what was going on and plus I was hoping for it to be scary and it really wasn't.

I been in bed sick all day but managed to finish my "spring" book. OMG thank gosh as it just wasn't my cuppa! I need something light and fluffy to read now! LOL I see you finished your spring book to Alma! :)

But if y'all want to read a fantastic thriller you should pick up The Ex Wives by Jenna Kernan by Jenna Kernan when it comes out on October 10th! Holy smokes it is really good! 5 stars easy! Or if you have a Netgalley account go request it!

message 120: by Alma (new)

Alma (almamm) | 117 comments I have finished my spring book because like you, I am in bed with loads of time to read. I have also finished the book with a spider on cover. It was really good but today I am going to watch tv. My two other books are audio

I have a question about the Buddy Read bonus. I only see Hellion as a Formal Buddy Read in the group, but on our spreadsheet, Wuthering Heights and Sense & Sensibility are listed in the BR drop-down. Is that correct? Where is the BR post?

message 123: by Donna, Curator of Challenge Terrors (last edited Sep 20, 2022 03:21PM) (new)

Donna (dkflynn33) | 7591 comments Mod
Hellion is the September Formal Buddy Read and the others are for October & November. Anabella hasn't posted those yet.

message 124: by Ashley, The Tipsy Challenger (last edited Sep 20, 2022 03:24PM) (new)

Ashley Basile (smashreads) | 5805 comments Mod
Oh! Awesome! Do we have to participate with a specific amount of posts to count the bonus points? Can we read before the BR begins, as long as we participate in the discussion?

message 125: by Donna, Curator of Challenge Terrors (new)

Donna (dkflynn33) | 7591 comments Mod
You should at least answer the discussion questions at a minimum. You may read ahead or behind a little, just use spoilers so you don't spoil it for others.

Donna (dkflynn33) | 7591 comments Mod
Anabella has asked me to take over for Hellion this month and I haven't read it yet so I am going to read it and get the rest of the questions up in the next day or so.

So, if we can get Frankie completed by Sunday... and we can move on to the Witch... I can do Hellion (the Sept BR) for Consecutive Series # (1) and potentially Wuthering Heights (BR October) for Consecutive Title and we could get some bonus points! Does that seem doable or overly ambitious? Are your current books proving quick reads or are you having to push through them?
I'm pretty sure I'll have my last 2 books done by Sunday.

message 132: by JenniferJ (new)

JenniferJ | 206 comments I have two more to read. One is kinda short so if my color book doesn't bore me to tears it is possible for me.

It's no big thing if it doesn't happen, just trying to plan ahead and get some extra points at the same time! I am sure I can at least do the Wuthering Heights BR for points if we don't mind using "W" as one of our consecutive letter titles.

U V W X Y

Do you think you have a book that would work?

message 134: by JenniferJ (new)

JenniferJ | 206 comments I can find something for u or v

JenniferJ | 206 comments @Donna Would you accept velvet as a color?

message 136: by Donna, Curator of Challenge Terrors (new)

JenniferJ wrote: "@Donna Would you accept velvet as a color?"

Velvet is a fabric. When it was only available in certain colors they would be referred to as "velvet red" or "velvet purple" but now velvet fabric is available in almost any color. To accept it, there would have to be a color attached to it.

message 137: by Alma (new)

Alma (almamm) | 117 comments I’ll have to check tonight for the next round. I don’t think I’ll be done by Sunday with my two books though. One of them is nearly 700 pages and it’s taking me ages

message 138: by Alma (new)

Alma (almamm) | 117 comments Ok, found a book for the next round.it is the third in a series, will you be able to get the second book in a series JenniferJ?

message 139: by JenniferJ (new)

JenniferJ | 206 comments @Donna Thats ok about velvet sweet lady. I had to change my book from the one I was going to read and it was first one I saw on my shelf but I also found one with White in the title that I need to read so no worries. :)

@Alma Yes I can find a second series book. Which letter did you want? I can find either an U or a V. Either one is fine with me.

message 140: by Alma (new)

Alma (almamm) | 117 comments That’s great JenniferJ, I’ll go with the third book in series and I just realised I got Verity waiting for me to be read. If you can’t find a title with U let me know cause I can change it, that’s 😉

I'm certain I can find a U girlfriend! OMG I had Verity checked out from the library and was loving it but sadly I didn't get to finish it because more folks were waiting for it so I had to get in line again for it. I may just buy the doggone thing so I can read it at my leisure! LOL

Alma (almamm) | 117 comments Sorry, just catching up on messages now. I hope you’re feeling better now Ashley. I am still recovering from a chest infection and I had to take it easy this week. Back at work on Thursday but I am still exhausted and I am going to bed at 9 o’clock. I have finished From blood and ash, I did not enjoy the first third of the book but then it really changed and I couldn’t wait to finish it.
I am half way with my last one, I don’t know if I’ll finish it tonight, I doubt it but I’ll let you know as soon as I’m done. I’m aware you are done with yours Ashley

I think I may go ahead and try to read Hellion and not finish it until you both are done with your last book for Frankenstein. If you don't manage to finish before 10/1, then I'll just consider it a book read and read a different one for Witch, no harm in reading a book, lol.
