"One Boba Tea, please" Rachel said, giving the barista her order. She turned to Layla. "I'll pay for your drink, too Layla."

"Thank you, Rachel" Layla said, giving her a small smile. "I'll just have a lemonade" she told the barista. They sat down at a table near the counter, waiting for their drinks.

Jon walked in just as the girls were sitting down and walked over “hanging out?”

Rachel looked over at Ikrom. "Oh hi, Ikorm" she said. "As a matter of fact, yes. We're just waiting for our drinks."

Layla gave Ikrom a smile. "Would you like to sit down with us, Ikrom?" she asked, offering him a seat.

"You have a very dry tone. Do I offend you in anyway? Or do you not like me around you?" Ikrom asked Rachel.

Rachel frowned. " I have a dry tone? I'm sorry if it came across that way. And no, you don't offend me in any way. That's just how I talk sometimes" she said. Although she couldn't exactly blame Ikrom. Her honesty and bluntness could come across as rude sometimes when she wasn't trying to be rude at all. It was just a part of her personality.


Layla smiled, trying to keep the conversation pleasant and friendly. "Rachel's not rude at all. Once you get to know her better, she's a really kind and caring person" she said.

"Yeah yeah right. Keep dreaming, you know what I thought you guys would be something useful I guess just more loosers" Jon smirked at the sister and pushed the chair up so it stood on 2 back legs

Once the drinks were ready, Rachel got up to get them, giving Layla her lemonade and sitting back down. "And what does that supposed to mean?" she asked, taking a sip of her Boba.


Layla put her hand in the middle of the table. "Let's just talk about something else. There's no need for insults. We should all be nice to each other" she said.

"Are you born stupid or what? English is english do you need a translator? If so what language? Obviously you don't understand me. I'm talking gibberish to you?" Jon groaned and sat back up again. Folding his hands on the table he nodded at Layla "Let's talk about you then"

Rachel rolled her eyes. "I know what you said. Obviously I speak English, otherwise I wouldn't be using it now. Do you want me to humor you, though? Do you want me to speak in a different language?" she said with slight sarcasm.

Layla shook her head. "Rachel isn't stupid. She's one of the most intelligent people I know" she said, defending her sister. She took a sip of her lemonade. "I already talked about myself, though. What else do you want to know?"

“Little girls defending themselves. Tsk. What other things do you know besides talking in dry tones or being rude? You obviously have no manner. Learn some”

"It's okay, Layla. Don't worry about it" Rachel said. She glanced at Ikrom. "Learn some manners? Shall I do a courtesy? Bow? Anything you want I'll do, Your Highness"

Layla frowned. "Come on you guys. Let's not fight, especially when they're other people here. I'm sure we can get along" she said. She wasn't one to be stern, but she felt like it was necessary for both of them to calm down.

“”If im royal the what are you? A poor peasant?” Jon countered back glaring at Rachel. “Even if I was the king your tone with me is unacceptable I would have you punished”

"No, I wouldn't be poor. A commoner, but not poor" Rachel retorted back. "Oh, yeah? How would you punish me, then?" She relaxed a little, speaking in a more calm and gentle tone. "I really am sorry though, Ikrom. I wasn't trying to sound rude."


Layla sighed, taking another sip of her lemonade. This was an interesting turn of events. I wish they would stop fighting and get along she thought.

“Now you’re being all so nice? That’s not going to work. I thought of picking on your sister looks like your more fun to pick on.” Jon laughed, it echoed through the cafe

"I've been trying to be nice to you" Rachel said. But you're snarky comments kind of make it hard to she thought to herself. She didn't dare say what she thought out loud.

Layla clasped her hands together, giving a cheerful smile. "Okay. Let's change the subject, shall we? What should we talk about?" she said.

“And exactly how hard have you been trying? Not hard enough.” He countered back, he was going to back off or apologize to a girl he met just yesterday. “Apparently your sister doesn’t like me talking to her how about you two talk?”

"I didn't say that" Rachel said. She took a sip of her Boba, not saying anything for a moment before she spoke. "For the record, I don't think you're a bad person. I was just trying to defend Layla."

"I don't think you're a bad person, either" Layla said. She turned to face Rachel. "So Rachel, what do you want to talk about?"

“Your sister probably doesn’t need your defense. She’s what like 16? That’s old enough to live alone, you’re too overwhelming.” Jon rolled his eyes and turned his head to the window.

Rachel gave a small chuckle. "I know. But I'm her big sister. It's my job to protect her. I'm sure if you had a younger sibling then you would understand" she said. She looked at Layla. "Well, what about Mom
and Dad? How have they been latetly?"

Layla nodded. "Yeah. Rachel can be a little overprotective. But I don't mind. She has my best interests at heart, and that's what matters" she said. She continued the conversation with Rachel. "I talked to them yesterday, and they're doing well! Just busy with work."

“Yeah it would been different if she was your step sister-“ he pointed out “I have more siblings then you think. And it’s super annoying to be overprotective. Leave that to her future husband or something… it’s also annoying when some guy try to talk to her but you butt in. Stick your nose somewhere else will you?”

Rachel smiled. "That's good! I haven't been able to talk to them much since I've been busy with school" she said. She looked at Ikrom. "If you want to talk to her, would you like me to sit somewhere else, then?"

"Don't worry, I'm sure they understand" Layla said. She couldn't help but chuckle at Ikrom's words. "I don't plan on getting married anytime soon, so I'l just leave that to Rachel and our parents for now."


((Oh! Just to let you know, there is an ice warning for where I live, and it's supposed to be freezing rain later today into tomorrow morning. There might be power outages so if I'm offline for a few days, that's why.))

Rachel glanced at Ikrom as he was leaving the table. Your guess is as good as mine she thought to herself. "Alright, then. I was giving you a chance for me not to interfere like you wanted, though" she said. She continued talking to Layla. "I know. I just feel bad. Maybe I'll call them after we go back to the dorm."

Layla sighed, deciding not to say anything else to Ikrom. If he changed his mind, so be it. "That's a great idea! Maybe we can video chat with them together?"

Wren walked into the Cafe, taking in the rich smell of coffee.

Wren smiled, walking over to where an area of baked goods were.

"I was wondering if i could get a small caramel latte and four croissants." Wren said, turning to Shadow. "You want anything?"
