The Academy For Mythical Creatures discussion
Ebony slouched in her seat. Why did she all of a sudden not feel like reading? She sighed and tried to concentrate on the paragraph, but she couldn't. Ebony marked the page and put it away.
((ACK-I'M SORRY))
Megan looked down at her watch and started to out her notebooks back in her backpack. "Well, it was nice talking to you..." She said to the other girl. She left a tip for the waitress and walked out of the cafe.
Ebony ducked her head. "Yeah, you too," she muttered, even though the girl was long gone. She sighed. No one ever stuck around other than Ivory. She should have known...
((Hehe, last time I was here the entire cafe was in shock from the chaos.))
“Order for Jay Aratiri!” Someone called out. The cervitaur rose up from his seat and trotted over to take the mocha frappé. “Thank you very much.” He replied, grinning goofily. Then he headed back to his seat and took a few sips from the mocha, obviously having come here before and known what to order out of experience.
Yuri heard the barista call out Jay's name, but ignored it. The kitsune took a few sips from her coffee, and read a few more pages of her book before putting it away in her backpack.
((It’s in the middle of page 2, lol ;D))
Jay took another sip of his mocha before looking around. He started fiddling with his fingers out of habit, and in his head he was debating on who he should talk to. The cervitaur enjoyed conversation, but nobody really stuck out to the eye. ‘Guess I’ll have to go to the nearest person…’ He thought. Soon enough he stood up again, taking his drink with him of course, there-forth continuing to glance around the dimly lit room. After a minute of contemplation, he approached Yuri. “Hi!” He said cheerily. “What were you reading? Like, you know-“ Jay grinned. “Before you put it away.”
Yuri heard Jay's voice, looking at him. "Hi. Oh, I'm reading The Fault in Our Stars" she said. She took more sips of her coffee, continuing to look at Jay. "So, I already know your name. I heard the barista call you up when you got your drink. Jay, right?" she asked.
((I couldn't think of another book, so that's the first one that popped into my heard. I actually read it, and it's really good, butit's also sad))
((Lol-))
Jay nodded quickly. “I’ve never read that before. But I don’t usually read.” He replied, giggling. “Yeah, my name’s Jay. What about you? Oh! Let me guess, I could totally guess it!” He said excitedly, stomping his front hooves while his hands held his drink.
“Okay…” He thought for a moment before he started spitting out names. “Alex, Luna, Elaine, Yuri, Evelyn-“ Jay paused. “Any of those?”
Jay made an air-bump out of self-pride for his accomplishment. “It’s a cervitaur thing.” He replied, his grin smug. “I’ve been trying to get better at it, so I think I’m super close! WOOO!” Jay pranced around for a second until he paused and cantered back over to Yuri. “Mind if I sit here? This is fun, you’re fun, and…er….I can’t say the drink is fun, that makes no sense.”
Jay beamed at her and sat down, setting his mocha on the table gently. “Welllll….my parents aren’t cervitaurs…for….some reason. And I’m friends with, like, half the school. And my grades are all alphabetical, so I quite literally have A, B, C, D, and F. Where’d E go, anyways? It’s, just, wiped from existence!” He said, throwing his hands up in the air. “Oh, also. My favorite color is blue. I like blue. Blue is cool.”
“SAME! What’s the alphabet without an E! It’s, er….alphabet assault?” Jay shrugged, his aura happy and full of wonder. He was definitely smarter then he seemed, though. “Uhm….I don’t know about that. Some say I was adopted, but I don’t think so.” He replied to her last comment, fiddling slightly while taking another sip of his drink.
“Heh, yeah, I get that.” Jay acknowledged. “Hmmm….oh! We should play twenty questions!” He said excitedly. “Do you know how to play?”
“You could go first, if you’d like!” Jay stated with a friendly, seemingly never gone smile. He picked up his mocha once again and took another few sips from it, going crosseyed to see how much he had taken. He was definitely just naturally silly in his own little way.
Jay smirked, taking the open opportunity to clap his hands right in her face so she’d snap back to reality. “Clearly. You’re having a whole fantasia over there.”
((By the way, I may not be so active tomorrow. Super bad chest pain happening.))
Jay smiled reassuringly. “You’re fine, it happens to everyone at some point. Uhm….chocolate, for sure.”
"Me too" Yuri said with a smile. "What is your favorite drink?" she asked.
((Thanks! I’m feeling a bit better. Probably got food poisoning.))
Jay hummed, thinking for a second. “Uhmmm….I have a lot. Soda is definitely top on the list.” He paused, still thinking. “What about you?”
“Coffee’s good!” Jay replied. “Ooohh…uhm….I’d have to say a waterfall in the mountains. Doesn’t matter where. Someplace safe, in the human areas most likely. Just so I don’t have to deal with ogres and giants on the way up.” He smirked, putting his hands up innocently.
“Hmmm….Maybe we could go someday! Er….after we get to know each other more, obviously.” He smiled sheepishly before his eyes lit up joyously. “OH! OH! OH! What if we asked for a FIELD TRIP?!”
Jay bounced in his seat happily. “YEAH! That’s exactly the first thing we’re doing after we finish these questions! If you’re not busy obviously. It’s the weekend, so not many of us have classes soooo!~” He did a little dance in his chair, clearly unable to contain his excitement at the idea of a field trip.
((I’m super sorry for not replying!))
“Languages?” Jay looked alarmed for a second, but then he went into nerd mode and began to count in his head. “About 37.” He replied after a minute.
Yuri's eyes widened in shock. "37?! Wow, that's impressive! I only speak three" she said. "But I definitely want to learn more" she said.
“I should know at least 400 by now, but I’m not even past the 50 mark.” Jay sighed. “Us Cervitaurs from what I heard should know more languages then fairy kind. But I could teach you a little bit of what I know, too.” He offered, keeping his goofy grin steady.
“And in return, if you don’t speak Elvish or Mongolian Dragon, I could teach you. Those are actually some of the easiest to learn if you got the right mentor!” He smirked with a twinkle in his blue eyes. “Hobbies….Okay, hear me out, I got a human box thing and it’s sick. So, whatever you call it. G-…er….aums? No….OH! Video games! Yeah!”
Jay would definitely be prancing around right now if he weren’t sitting. Finishing his drink with a wide smile, he threw it into the nearby trash, and it landed, going into the disposal unit. Then he looked back at Yuri, having taken his attention away from her for just a second. “Siblings? I don’t know. If I do, I’ve never met them.” He said with a half-hearted shrug. “How about you? Any annoying mini-Yuri’s?”
“We’re in the same boat.” Jay replied, looking down at the wooden table. He took notice of a few things. The way Yuri replied to him wasn’t tentative, and she was fairly easy-going from what he’d seen…so far, anyways. The cervitaur looked up at her once she sat back down, taking in little bits of extra information. Jay wasn’t too observant, so he never went into details often. “That’s up to you. I’m free pretty much all day. Skipping class I don’t mind, so anytime between 10AM to 11PM at night is okay.” He said gently, laying it flat. “As of place…maybe the library? Or an old, never-used classroom.”
