For me one of the things I don't like that much are irl people on covers for books I physically buy...

I honestly don't like how every book has to have LGBTQ stuff in it... if I wanted to read that I would go read one of those books

Actual photos of people on the bookcover, broken spines, and long chapters
Realistic people on the covers. Over/under describtive parts. Don't get me started on sitting positions.
i mean nowadays there has to be representation in everything or else people gets offended.
Dog earring pages of books, and when chapters are 15 pages long...
predictable plotlines or poorly done twists

Idk I actually think that most books are linked with me so I don't think that I do have a pet peeve on books
I would have to say those stickers that you can’t take off that say stuff like ‘the tiktok sensation’
WHEN THE AUTHORS PUT PICTURES OF “HOT” MEN THAT LOOK LIKE THEY BELONG IN 50 SHADES OF GREY AND ONLY SUBURBAN MIDDLE AGED MOMS WOULD FIND HOT. I HATE THAT SO MUCH.
I hate overhype on books because you go there thinking is a masterpiece and then bam. So I tried to avoid books with huge overhype (particularly in TikTok)

I hate when they stretch a situation for no particular reason -_-
long descriptions of literally everything!! The colour of the table , texture of his coat , etc ., stuff like that , I'm tired of them ༎ຶ‿༎ຶ
Third person books.. i just love POV books ugh
- 3rd person, sometimes I don’t mind but when it’s well done - fake dating. I hate it with every bone in my body
- over/under written descriptions.
I agree with the ones saying irl people on covers. I hate that. I also hate the insta love trope. Drives me crazy. Lol
Super long , slow and confused beginning like The Girl On The Train. It started off slow and boring I almost didn’t finish it!
Slow writing ages to get to the point and unrelated information that didn’t pose much purpose in the book. Too tiny font creating lots of words on two pages for some reason it doesn’t motivate me to read it because I’m overwhelmed by how much writing there especially when its so small you have to squint.
Probably when the description spoils the whole book. :(

When you finish a book, but the plot doesn't get resolved, and then you realize there's a sequel, but you don't want to read it because the first book wasn't very good.
@gisella i felt that😭 basically how all my collections are tho.. prob cuz i'm too cheap and i buy them all from goodwill...other pet peeves would be a slow beginning (you gotta hook the readers)
a main character i don't know/can't really relate with
cliché dialogue. i can't stand it.
sex scenes where it wasn't needed. yes, develop the relationship but throw them in a bed at every turn? not a good writing technique. for real life and writing imo.
Physical pet peeves: stickers you can’t take off, real life people on the covers, mismatching covers or sizes or materials (hardback and paperback), and I don’t like cracking my spines unless it’s second hand lol.Story related pet peeves: cheating tropes because that’s messed up, excessive descriptions but I love it when the author makes it flow nicely, smut in Young Adult because like I’m reading YA to avoid that💀And this is a personal preference but I don’t like when books swear or blaspheme, especially excessively and unnecessarily.
when they reference anything pop culturish. and also when the main character's job is an "influencer" type--fitness, lifestyle, etc.
Okay, so here's a few of mine:1. Real people on the covers (especially the half naked men)
2. Stickers you can't take off
3. Covers made to match the movies
4. Not full covers
5. Long chapters
6. Sex in books where it’s not needed at all
7. Over describing things
8. Fake dating, insta love
9. Very slow, long and confusing beginnings
10. When the character isn't an 'influencer' and just casually has like 15K followers. Or just when you can't relate to the character (especially if they're a pick me little petite worthless girls that lost their parents and you have to pity because you just must even if they're actualy a horrible character who puts themselves or others down for no reason and always chooses the overly possesive bad boy that bullied them and their friends all of their life as a love intrest instead of an actually suportive and nice guy)
When a series of books has one book, typically the last one, that is either bigger or smaller in height than the first one(s) or only published in paperback, when they first one(s) are hardcover. In summary I hate having a series on the shelf that does not all match.

Shut up Brittny Mine are when they bring characters back to life, the pregnancy trope and bland characters
Every time someone calls someone 'babe' or 'baby. It makes me cringe, the only time I am okay-ish with it if I really like the character.
