Point of Views

Point of Views (aka POVs) are something all books have but every author uses differently. Which POV do you prefer to use? Are there any you struggle with? Or maybe you’re not sure which one to use? Any and all POV related stuff can be discussed here.

Dual POVs between the two love interests

1st person POV is superior, but I’m not the kind of person to have an issue with 3rd person. I do like dual/multiple POVs too, but the book I’m currently writing is single person :)

Sorry, I meant as do you become that person, as you write or does it feel like you're writing for another person?

Haha it makes sense, I just wasn’t sure if that was what you were asking. Hmm I’m not too sure. I think I often feel as though I’m the character, by writing “I” and stuff, but at the same time like not at all. I don’t know how to explain it lol. I guess I put a lot of my own traits into the character and some of theirs will somehow rub off on me — even though I’m creating them lol — but it doesn’t feel like I’m writing about someone else nor does it feel like I’m writing about me…

LOL No, that makes perfect sense because I feel like that too, it's as if they are like an extension to ourselves or something

yeah you explained that really well! I feel the same way when writing in first person. Almost like you’re writing about an alternate you

Aww Allie, it's fine- you don't need to always relate to them- if you take a 3rd person approach, you generally will feel like they are completely separate from you.
If you don't connect, think why not?

Allie if you’re trying to connect with your character, make sure you have a lot of things in common! If you want other people to connect as well, this is probably the simplest way. Maybe it’s a big thing, like your memory is awful or you feel like you’re too selfish, or maybe it’s small, like you love the smell of the ocean or you hate cats.

Cool- oh yes tenses are important too- sometimes I find myself switching from them

I prefer writing (and reading) in first person. The book I'm currently writing is also dual POV.
