Brava, Karen! What a (near) wonderful accomplishment!

I haven't read this book yet even though I own it. I do tend to agree with you, Karen. I think history will look back on us and be critical of certain stereotypes we have, if the pattern continues. I once read The Journal Of William Sturgis and he had very positive things to say about the indigenous peoples and wonderful interactions with them which goes to show things aren't always black and white.

Perhaps you can start with the Newbery honor books once you finish the winners!
