Tracy and Dan hired a nanny, Therese, who accompanied them from Seattle to Cedar Grove. Your first impressions of her? Did you ever have any suspicions about her? Your thoughts about day mommy/night mommy?

Robin (robinmy) | 2466 comments I wondered if something strange was going to happen with Therese, given that she was featured prominently when she was introduced. I thought she may kidnap the baby or make a move on Dan. Her day mommy/night mommy comment really didn't bother me, but it sure bothered Tracy.

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3501 comments I didn't have any suspicions about Therese. I did think the "day mommy/night mommy wasn't the best descriptor, but I didn't sense any negativity in the statement. I believe Therese was trying to make Tracy feel better about working and having a date night.

I'm the odd girl out here. It felt strange to me. I kept looking for something to happen with her at least early on. Her daytime/nighttime comment bothered me even though it becomes clear she was only trying to help Tracy feel better. It felt to me like she was too prominently inserted right off - like her role would be something more than the nanny. Her cooking meals, etc. It felt like she was taking over the household. And I guess in some ways, she was/is. But at that point, I wondered what her role was going to be.

At first, she just seemed to be too good to be true so I was wary. It took me awhile to just accept her as is and see she didn’t have an agenda. Her heart was in the right place with the day/night mommy thing but it plays right into the guilt of working mothers. If Tracy ends up thinking it’s okay, I’ll be okay.

~Melissa~ | 429 comments I didn't have any bad thoughts about Therese ~ she seemed to be a godsend. I did think the day/nighttime mommy comment was odd but, I didn't feel like she meant anything bad about it.

Charlene (charlenethestickler) | 1205 comments I was wary through much of this story, but I'll see how the next book goes with Therese.

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3501 comments Charlene, did you get bad vibes from Therese at the end of this book, or do you expect something to happen in the future?
