Ghost Dance question

Hi all, many, many years ago, possibly more than thirty, my mother introduced me to a series of spooky books. The main character was some kind of psychic detective and the main story was about how some kind of satanic group kidnapped his wife and children. They were an all powerful kind of group, you know the kind of thing, and their give away was wearing animal masks.

I do remember that one book was called Ghost Dance and was based around the native american tribes who practised it.

All very random but I hope it rings a bell with someone. x
