Noam | 182 comments Dear friends at Goodreads,
I’ve noticed that the late Hebrew writer David Schütz (See https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/David...) appears twice in Goodreads: Once as David Schütz and once as דוד שיץ, his name in Hebrew, each one of these with different books. Can you please combine these two? Please add that he had passed away on July 14th, 2017 (The English Wikipedia mentions July 16th, but that’s not correct).
Thanks for your help!
Kind regards,
Noam

Assuming he published in both Hebrew and English (or another Roman-alphabet language), having two profiles is correct. Not having the English (German) version of his name listed on all his books (other than the collection on which he is one of many authors, and not the editor) is what is incorrect.

We do not merge author names in different languages. Please see: https://help.goodreads.com/s/article/... (See: Authors published in multiple languages)
Authors with books published in multiple languages should have their names dealt with similarly to those with pen names. All editions should have the primary author name as the standard or most common Roman (that is, English-language) version of the author's name. Editions published under another spelling of the name or the name in another language should have that name listed as the secondary author. Different editions of a book not having the same primary author can cause quite a few distinct problems. Please keep the primary author for all editions of a work the same.

Thank you for your quick and informative answer, Rivka! It’s good to learn more about Goodreads policies.
David Schütz wrote books only in Hebrew. Some of his books were translated into German and/or French.
1. Does it mean indeed that he should be included both in Hebrew and in English?
2. If so: What does it mean for his books? Do all of them appear under his Hebrew name and only the translated ones should appear under the English one? Can you please let me know what’s the policy about this aspect?
Kind regards,
Noam

Hebrew and translations in German and French.

Corrected: https://www.goodreads.com/author/list...

It really helps to include a link to both author profiles when making a request like this.
