Monika | 2339 comments Had the same in my mind Narilka, but then I thought: Geez this poor man lived in creepy place and thought his son is basically empty, no powers, no nothing, kinda waste and now this boy is more then anyone in their so called sacred valley. It's like wake up in different reality, that hit him hard really hard, so he needs time to adjust.

Tonari no Emily (emlfem) | 5115 comments Okay finally finished! This was a great entry :D

Also the big reveal here was nicely led up to this book. Loved the bloopers at the end. The characters are just so great! Agree with a lot of the points yall made but not much to add here.

Re icons (view spoiler)

Eithan (view spoiler)

Choko (chokog) | 12597 comments Monika, I am totally with you on the dad situation. He had me frustrated as well, but his life has been upended drastically and he needs to readjust his whole world view...

Nirkatze | 21250 comments I feel like I've seen this in other families too--fictional and not--(view spoiler)

Monika | 2339 comments So true Nirkatze, so true!

Nyssa | 1651 comments I'm struggling with this one. It's frustrating because I love the characters, and I have enjoyed the series as a whole.

There is nothing wrong with this story per se; I think it's more of a mood thing on my part. I've been reading it off/on all month and am still only halfway through.

I do know that I need them to get out of that damn labyrinth already. It feels like a slog to me now.

Yeah, it's definitely a mood thing. *Sigh*

Nirkatze | 21250 comments @Nyssa /patpat

I think I remember having a similar feeling at the beginning when reading it...

Nyssa | 1651 comments Thanks.

I aim to complete it by the end of the week, and I'll probably wait until the end of November / the beginning of December to read Dreadgod.

Choko (chokog) | 12597 comments Nyssa, funny you should say that, because this was the first book in the series I dragged with as well... If most of us felt that way, maybe it is the book, not us...

Monika | 2339 comments To be honest took me about 3 weeks or so to read it... But on the other hand I always read few books in the same time...

Nyssa | 1651 comments Thank you both. I set it aside for at least a week / week-and-a-half.
I was hoping absence would make the heart grow fonder, you know.

Nyssa | 1651 comments I am currently reading Chapter 14.

Except for Surirel, the Abidan sound like lazy cowards! UGH!
And where is everyone else who has ascended? What do they do?

Tonari no Emily (emlfem) | 5115 comments I had trouble as well! Take your time :)

Nyssa | 1651 comments I have just finished Chapter 19 --- Are we meant to start disliking Dross?? Is he turning into a foe?

(view spoiler)

Choko (chokog) | 12597 comments Yeah, he got damaged and is a pain in the ass at this point...

Nyssa | 1651 comments Yes! At first, it was almost humorous and mildly distressing. Now, he's UGH.

Monika | 2339 comments Defo Dross is not the same anymore...

Nirkatze | 21250 comments Nyssa wrote: "Yes! At first, it was almost humorous and mildly distressing. Now, he's UGH."

Only consolation is that Lindon & co all feel the same way--we get to feel their pain...

Okay. I was worried Lindon would allow himself to suffer.

Nyssa | 1651 comments So, I didn't move on to Dreadgod last year.
I am rereading Reaper, as I do not remember how it ended.

I am currently on Chapter 9, where they have just entered the labyrinth, and I'm anxious that I won't enjoy these scenes any more than last time.

*Shrug* We'll see.

Choko (chokog) | 12597 comments I hope you enjoy it this time around!!!

Narilka | 5728 comments Worst case, you could skip to the end so you have the prep for Dreadgod.

Nyssa | 1651 comments Narilka wrote: "Worst case, you could skip to the end so you have the prep for Dreadgod."

I considered that but couldn't make myself do it -- just in case I missed something. lol

Do you know this entire series, I have been calling Arelius Ethan not Eithan!?!

Nirkatze | 21250 comments LOL I can imagine Eithan's shocked face that he has been improperly referred to... but he would probably forgive you as long as you take his hair-care advice.

LOL!

Nyssa | 1651 comments I finished it!

I enjoyed it much more this time. I listened to the audio while reading the book, at it made a significant difference - especially in the labyrinth!

I will start Dreadgod tomorrow!

Nirkatze | 21250 comments That's a nice idea--use audio to get through gnarly bits and swap to book to savor the good parts...
