I saw that the Night trilogy is on the two School Reading Lists, would we need to read the whole trilogy or would it be OK to just read Night?
Wow! When I saw the lists for options 2 & 3, my first reaction was "oh, no". But then I saw the books on the lists. There are some really good books on there. I envy those kids their education.

I DNF'd one of the books on the list a couple of years ago. I only read about 30 pages before quitting, though I marked it as "read" (which I do for most of my DNFs). Can I still use that book as a "new to me" read?

As an aside: Any reason you haven't set up an additional exclusive shelf "DNF", to accurately track those, rather than sticking them onto Read?
BC will have to reply, but personally I never use the category of DNF. If I don't get far, I take the book off GR altogether. If I read farther but not all the way through, I will probably rate it 2 or 3. (I might feel it is ok but just not for me, that would be a 3.) I am not interested in GR knowing what I didn't read (or what am I reading now, because they send nagging reminders!) I also might skim ahead and see the end, in which case I count it as read.

I count DNFs as read if I have no plan to ever read them again. I don't use GR's tracking method in any case.
