This thread is where you can chat about all things PIFM, ask questions and once books have been read, review your selected reads. A complete free for all.

PLEASE NOTE:

PIFM is meant to be FUN and not to be taken seriously. I would appreciate it if all participants just chilled and not get worked up about voting, who votes, who doesn't, etc. Please bear in mind that some will just want to vote, many don't come on everyday and most of us have time constraints. I just want a relaxed approach to it all and for you all to just enjoy the process! I'd really appreciate your courtesy in this matter. Many thanks.

Sophie | 1126 comments September! My list is up.

I love all the seasons for different reasons but September to me always signals the arrival of autumn and coming of cosy evenings, mugs of hot drinks and curling up with a book and is probably my favourite time of year :)

Patricia - I can see you've voted for a book on my list you'd like to read but I don't know the title lol

Patricia Bergman (marshop) | 1229 comments It is The Satanic Verses. It sounds like your phone is like mine where parts of the comments are missing.

Patricia Bergman (marshop) | 1229 comments I just rechecked my posting on my selection for you. It isn't your phone. It was my goof. It is fixed.

Christine Hatfield (christinesbookshelves) | 5526 comments I’ve put my list up and cast my votes so far

Kirsten (kmcripn) Wow. I've only gotten 3 votes. I didn't realize so few of us participate.

Patricia Bergman (marshop) | 1229 comments I wonder where everyone went. Surely some will return before the end of the month.

Agnieszka (agnieszka7) | 1462 comments Sorry I dissapeared again. I started this month with COVID and even if it's over now I'm still not really fit. I won't post a list for September but voted for all of you.

message 10: by Kirsten (new)

Kirsten (kmcripn) Oh, I hope you don't still have it! My brother has Long COVID and is completely miserable.

I'm no more positive but some of the symptoms come and go since two weeks now and I'm still feeling pretty powerless. All in all it's no more as bad as in the fist two weeks (those I was miserable) though I wish to get over it and be back to my 'normal'.

Agnieszka (agnieszka7) | 1462 comments I finished yesterday (finally) my June book W głębi lasu by Harlan Coben = The Woods by Harlan Coben (very generous 3*) and will start today with one of my August books W pustyni i w puszczy by Henryk Sienkiewicz , The Truth Teller by Angela Elwell Hunt

Unfortunatelly the Harlan Coben turned out not to really work for me even if I liked the MC and his chief investigator very much (I even wished for them to become a couple) as well as the secondary plot (the rape case he's prosecuting). Most of the other characters - especially his girlfriend from that fateful summer camp and the girlfriend of the victim - and the primary plot (that summer camp 18 years ago) I didn't care for. By now I'm used I need some time to get into his psychological thrillers quite a long though this time it was almost until the very end. I'm not sure yet if it was the language, genre or just wrong timing so I hope if I ever need a book with a summer camp for a challenge I get my hands on this book in English and can compare it and find out for sure.

Sue | 131 comments I finished Signal Moon by Kate Quinn yesterday, loved it. I was really please it got picked. The only down side is that it was a short story! I love her books so need to find time to read the Rose Code too.

Kirsten (kmcripn) Are we going to do PIFM next month?

I'm trying to post threads but GR is giving me grief, won't let me post.

Just bear with me, please.

message 19: by Kirsten (new)

Kirsten (kmcripn) No problem, Janet.

More like thank you for putting up with me!!

Sorry I'm late this month. Time got away from me. Been stupidly busy and caught up in the media coverage of the passing of our late Queen. It's been fascinating watching some of the documentaries.

Anyway, threads are up. Enjoy your selections and reading.

message 22: by Patricia (new)

Patricia Bergman (marshop) | 1229 comments Janet, I figured you were commemorating the Queen. I watched almost everything myself. What a wonderful woman.

I agree Janet. Some of the documentaries have been very interesting. I might actually get back into watching The Crown. I watched most of the funeral and thought it was very moving. Did you queue to see her lying in State?

No, Sophie, I didn't. But I did watch some of the live feed. Just seeing people react and show their respects was moving too. I'm not sure about The Crown. It feels a bit weird if that makes sense.

I agree, it would feel weird at the moment to watch The Crown, some time needed to find perspective after the emotion of the last couple of weeks.
