it's not available at my library (which includes Hoopla, Libby/Overdrive and Axis360). I was planning to buy the ebook since it's priced reasonably. (~$4 US)

I read the first edition (March 2011) which is weird because I thought amazon would have automatically given me the most recent edition.

Whichever edition you can get your hands on. I wouldn't mind discovering the differences in the editions. My edition ended with a giant space arachnid devouring half the crew and it made for an unsatisfying end. Hopefully it eats everyone in the update.

Thank you all for pointing this out. I started the first edition and then after seeing this, went and got the second instead.

Hah! I liked Victory of the Parrots. I recommend persevering until at least then if you're struggling with it.

I'm still plugging along with this (57%). I have been mostly liking it, particularly the relationships among the kids and how they develop.

I'm reading the second edition.

I finished and I enjoyed it but wasn't blown away. General thoughts, (view spoiler)[ I thought the overall premise of the ship and life on it was interesting. I liked following the main group of kids as they grew to adults who knew themselves and how to get along in the world/universe, despite the conditions they were raised in. I thought the 'bad guys' (Nail and Brandon/Scribner) were cartoonishly evil and that took away from the narrative developed with the kids. Also thought the writing could have been tightened up in many places. Even though we were seeing how Kea processed situations, that didn't need to be done repeatedly, in real time. (hide spoiler)] Overall, I'm glad to have read it, but not sure I would follow up on the series.
