I had the feeling that the only way they were going to get Decker to take the job, was to also hire Nash. Nash seems to have a reputation that made Tom a bit wary. If he wanted Decker, he had to take Nash too.
I had the impression that Tom asked for Nash too. I believe Tom was hesitant to hire Nash, but he respects Decker enough to give Nash a chance. Decker would not be so loyal to someone that didn't give 100%. Also, Tom is a leader who makes his own decisions about him men and women. He will give Nash a chance based on past performance, not rumors and innuendo.
I agree with you both but don’t believe he would have hired Nash without Decker. Nash had a reputation and if he had pleaded his case with Tom, he might have given him a chance. But he never would have recruited him solo.
My impression was that Tom wanted Deck and knew he would have to take Nash as well because they were a package deal. Tom was very skeptical of Nash and would not have taken Nash on without Deck.
