that sounds like a perfectly valid way to make stew, lol.I most often do a French beef or lamb in red wine, but my favourite is probably Scottish venison stew (very similar to the french method, but fruitier!). Greek stifado is also awesome :)
Mmm. Venison stew. I am a gun-hater, but, my sister hunts, and when she is successful, she shares. So, I occasionally get lovely venison from her. Nothing like there being exceptions to the rules. teehee
Well, since it's illegal to actually hunt deer here, I have to make do with what I can get from the butcher (the supermarkets sometimes get some not-so-great cuts in, but they're few and far between). that is also the reason I don't make it often, as buying venison at the butcher requires taking out a second mortgage on the house :D :D
I just finished Under the Greenwood Tree. It's maybe not the best Thomas Hardy book to start with, but the TBR jar picked and I had to obey. It was alright, but it was difficult to take seriously when one of the main character is called Dick and the other Fancy.
I had to laugh out loud when Fancy said, "I like Dick". 😂
Hey Claire, did you know about this? While previous books were written together, Susi Hawke sadly passed away in 2022. This book was written solely by Crista Crown
I was looking at a book to read and noticed the note on the description of the next knotted paths installment

Oh no ! I had no idea. I'm so sad. Whilst not great literature, I enjoyed her books so much. 😥So so sad 😢😢

Same. She had a light and fluffy series about a paranormal bed & breakfast she started during the pandemics - she wanted something sweet to write and for the readers. It was too short for challenges so I kept putting it off.
Now I'm sad. Her legacy series was one I used as comfort reading...
I looked it up online. It happened not so long ago, back in june. But no details on what happened exactly (not that I really need to know, but just curious).
She will be missed.
Do you like Crista Crown's stuff? I have to admit that the books co-written with her weren't my favourite.
The announcement on facebook was 2 days after her last post. So, maybe it was an accident of sorts? Anyway. Their Team A.L.P.H.A. series was my first contact. I really enjoyed that one, because of some situations, but my favorite from that universe has to be The Family Novak - last book from it being the exception, I didn't like the Don's book. It made him sound mellow, not a mafia boss - I never tried Crista on her own.

The Family Novak is one I haven't read yet. Maybe next time I need something sweet ;-)
And Team A.L.P.H.A, I don't think I read it all. But I remember liking some, but not all.
Uhmmm... you might need some context from the alphabits (team alpha spin-off) to read the Family Novak.I think they should have stopped at that one. Although, seeing the life after being rescued part (knotted paths) is not that bad either. I don't think we needed a STAHP one.
I still read them, because I like the recurring characters and how they interconnect with all series. But, like a friend of mine uses to say, I'm a glutton for punishment. LOL
Okay, so... If I understand correctly, you need to read all her stuff in publication order. 😅 No going from one series to the other willy-nilly. Well noted
I've done it like that more or less by accident so far. But I don't think there are so many connections between series in her earlier stuff, no?
Well... there is a chronological order... but, it doesn't have that much of a context... it's like the Den is introduced in the pack, but not much more than that. Or the next one starts with two of the twin sets from the previous one.I think the one that makes sense to keep the order is to read The Blood Legacy Chronicles before Legacy Warriors. Not only the MCs are all children born in the previous one. There is a main arc that precedes it.
Now, the new author I've been reading... that one needs to be read in order. Otherwise, nothing makes sense. There are story arcs that continue from one series to the other. Or are caused by the previous story arc.
Naaaa, when I obsess with a series, I tend to read anything I can get my hands on from an author. This one was on KU, plus it was back in 2020, when I needed to forgot reality for a bit... so... I read them ALL
In more exting news... 2 and a half years later, and I finally got a proper office chair... yey!!!I was tempted to buy a gaming chair, because those are all ergonomic and whatnot... but 1)I don't like the leathery touch, plus I tend to run hot, so it would be terrible... and 2)I'm a bit on the short side... so... it was hard to find one where I was all properly seated without straining.
So. No gaming chair for me. No cheap office chair either... well, I guess it was in the middle range, but it cost the same than both the desk and the extra monitor combined. LOL
Since I'm going to spend at least 8 hours a day on that thing, if it's comfortable, it was worth it.
So, back in my teens, I become obsessed with Keep the Faith by Bon Jovi. And continued to be a fan for a while. I still enjoy them, and stop everything if they appear on the radio or on my random youtube browser... I just don't know much of new albums since bounce. I think.
Anyway, I was looking for a There There meme to post to a coworker and came across this gem:

I laughed so much I had to run to pee... *whistles*

I concur! And, I love making stew. My favorite is "whatever happens to be in the fridge and pantry simmered in broth with ale or wine".
I also have a couple that I make with actual recipes.
