FOR THE LOVE OF HISTORY

Savor the romance of history by reading five historical romance books during August, and be entered into a drawing for a JANE AUSTEN PRIZE PACKAGE.

Any adult can participate, but to be entered in the prize drawing participants must:
1. Be a member of the Lincoln Parish Library Readers Club. (If not a member, you can join the club when you begin the challenge.)
2. Savor the romance of history by reading five historical romance books between Monday, August 1 & Wednesday, August 31, 2022.
3. (FYI guys, most westerns would count!)
4. Present his/her completed log to a staff member at one of the Information Kiosks by 6:00PM on Thursday, September 1, 2022. (Scans or photos emailed to jbolom@mylpl.org will be accepted).

I always pick out 5 books at the beginning and then end up changing my mind after my first book. I plan to read The Wager and The Sword of Darkness by Kinley MacGregor. I am going to try to stick to what I have picked out!

What do you plan to read? Let me know.

I love to know what you are going to read for this challenge!!

Mara | 20 comments I chose The Black Moth by Georgette Heyer, The Bridgertons series by Julia Quinn, and The Lady's Mine by Francine Rivers.

I hope you enjoyed them!!!

I read the first few Bridgertons books several years ago and they were good. I’ve continued on with Kinley MacGregor books. I will have 4 Kinley MacGregor books and 1 Lynsey Sands.

I have not read any Georgette Heyer books. I need to read a few of hers.

Mara | 20 comments I think of Georgette Heyer as sort of a classic writer of Regency historic fiction. The Black Moth happened to be her first book. She wrote for her brother. I read a few of her books as a teen, These Old Shades being one of them.

Julia Quinn is a new author to me. The Bridgertons have eight children, each with a story. As I am only on the sixth novel, I will be continuing past the month :) Once I start a series, I am typically compelled to complete it.

I have never read Kinley MacGregor books...would you recommend her?

I would recommend her to anyone. I will say though, if you don't like a lot of mushy mushy stuff (not sure how to word it), then Kinley MacGregor is not the one.
