i understand the hype and she writes amazing stories (I've read some of her books) although I disagree with some saying her books are like a cultural reset (saw that comment on twitter) or something groundbreaking since there are a lot of books out there that has more or less has the same content with her books

her books are badly written. characters underdeveloped and using trauma as a plot. plus glorification and romanticisation of abuse and toxic relationships

oh i totally understand. i think booktok overhyped her way too much, but that could just be because im not into teen-angsty romance sort of books. i also don’t like how she romanticises abusive relationships and makes all of her main characters have some type of trauma.

i've only read three of her books and while they're alright i find them extremely overhyped especially ugly love and it ends with us and while i have nothing against it they feel a bit wattpad-ish at times but i can understand why people like them so much

i’ve only read three of her books, and i agree. there’s nothing special about them. the male is always an ass & the female is always a doormat who just accepts his shit????? like it makes me so mad. they glorify abuse & trauma, and she uses mental health as a plot device- but never explores the mental health of the character in depth!!!!!!

i've only read one book of hers "it ends with us". I feel like she is overhyped because there are many more other authors who could write better books. hoover just so happens to be all over social media so she's getting more recognition than anyone else in the romance books.

I feel like she is a good author but I think she is DEFINITELY overhyped. I've read some of her books, and I've liked some of them, but I don't think she really lives up to the hype. In my opinion, I think that there are way better romance authors than her.

I had a phase when I liked her books a lot. I am definitely not so deep into them anymore because some of the plots and writing seem so lazy to me right now but I can see why the past me liked them or people who like them in general. They are easy to read, especially for people who may not speak English as a first language and you can finish them super fast.

I was mostly reading them to get an idea of the US because I had a hard time understanding a lot of things and also because they are so easy to read through.

Like iv read 8 of her books and i gave 1 5/5 and the 7 of them 4/5 or3/5 there not that bad , but my absolute favorite book which i gave a 5/5 is novmber 9 by her !! But do i see them overrated? Some no some yes like it ends with us? The hype is perfect but if you don’t read any books and then just read it ends with us and give it a 5? No I don’t think its a 5 for ur first read but as a reader who read over 80 books it ends with us was a solid 4 or at least 3.9 thats it.
