Seven Days in June, its a romance book. Nishita suggested a romance one. But if you guys have anything else you would prefer reading, I am happy with whatever, its so hard to choose lol. What did you think about Ether in the end, Courtney?
I was a little surprised Regan was an actual thief and not just something that happened once. I really thought Aldo was gonna leave her but I'm glad that they elude to them always staying with each other.
hahaha Corina, I get you! I think they're horrible for each other! maybe I'm a little more boring but I don't like those romances where the love interests have this fiery passion but just are bad decision makers. It's not healthy or sustainable at all! And it paints this narrative that love is worth fighting for no matter how fucked up of a person you are. sometimes love isn't enough and it can do more damage to them and those around them.
100% agree with you on that Bella! You have to stand on your own before you can be part of a healthy relationship.
So, do we want to start Seven Days next if thats the one we settled on?Courtney, did you manage to get a copy?
And yeah I totally get what you guys are saying. towards the end of the book I started seeing Regan as a compulsive liar obviously but I loved Aldo so much I just am a sucker for unstable relationships sometimes hahaha I thought they both truly loved each other even if Regan is a narcissist so that's why I was okay with it. Also I def liked the idea that the universe brought them back together full circle BUT I wasn't obsessed with the book it def could have been more.....something. Just more
I loved the writing style of this book but found myself getting occasionally lost or bored with the plot. Beautiful prose though and good concept
I see what you are saying, Courtney! I definitely liked Aldo in this one and wasn't a fan of Regan...I read a lot of great love stories, but this one just didn't do it for me.
Btw, among my favourite love stories is in The Bone Season series by Samantha Shannon if you guys haven't read those. There are only 4 books out at the moment but its the series that made me want to read more fantasy.
Great, we can start Seven Days whenever you guys are ready.
Ooh okay I'm going to try and find those right now! And I picked 7 days up so I'm gonna start on it right now.
I'm currently reading Thunderhead(Arc of Scythes series) and The Wall of Winnipeg and Me by Mariana Zapata but I'm still down for Seven Days in June. So when do we start reading it? Also I agree with @ladybreww I absolutely loved the book just because of it's prose. I'm a sucker for a beautiful prose. Olivie Blake's writing never seems to focus on plot. All her books consist of beautiful prose and that's why I love her books. plus it's always dark academic vibes with her books. and I absolutely love dark academia.
I do like beautiful prose and I agree that Ether had that, though those interludes annoyed me haha. For me, I have to get something else other than the writing, like characters or plot. I did like Aldo and his dad in this one, but not enough to say I loved the book. To be honest, I prefered The Atlas Six by her. Also, I can start 7 days tomorrow if everyone is happy with that?
Yeah whenever you guys are all ready! Hi to Nishita and ladybrew! I started 7 days already I'm only 30 pages in but it's funny so far
