Adjust Page Count

This is for the First Mass Market edition published May 2022 of The Return by Nicholas Sparks (ISBN 9781538728598). I read the guidelines for page counts and I feel that the page counts are still off for this book.

This book is listed at 400 pages (there are 400 pages) but the guidelines state that preview chapters of other books are not included. That alone will remove 19 pages. I'm not entirely sure if the 10 pages of praise for the author count as advertisements as they are for other works and not this book, then at the least this should be listed at 371 pages.

It is also confusing as the guidelines say that acknowledgments are included in the page count but introductory material with roman numeral pages numbers are not included as the acknowledgment section is at the beginning of the book and is marked with roman numerals to end with XIX. This appears to included the acknowledgement pages and all the praise pages so this would bring the page count down to at least 362.

When looking through all the paperback versions available in English (my primary language) they are listed at either 355 pages or 400 pages. The story from Page 1 to end of the First Mass Market edition is 358 pages. Can someone please help me understand if I am mistaken or correct the page count to what it should be.

Hi Myranda. WorldCat (which is the preferred source for page numbers in Goodreads) states that this particular edition (matching the ISBN) has 377 pages, so I have added that page number for this Goodreads edition. It doesn't quite tally with any of your suggestions, but as a single source for page number WorldCat is deemed to the the best.
