Lauren | 2157 comments Jules Verne's novel Michael Strogoff, or the Courier of the Czar has been published both as a complete single volume and as a two-volume set.

First, the two volumes need to be added to a series:
Book 1: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1...
Book 2: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...

Second, the following existing Goodreads records for the novel in its complete, single volume form need to be combined with one another and added to the series:
- https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1... ("Extraordinary Voyages" needs removing from the title as this is not a valid series)

Thanks for your help!

They may need combining, but they would not be added to the series.

Do you mind explaining why? I wasn't able to find anything in the manual addressing this, but when I look at series like The Chronicles of Narnia or Harry Potter, books that contain all installments in a single volume have been added as part of the series.

Because in this case, the series started out as a single volume. It's fine to use a series page to collect the parts when that single volume has been republished in 2 (or 3, or more) parts, but the original single volume is not a series or part of one.

Michele | 6349 comments Hi Jennifer --

I combined the other single-volume editions where I could tell for sure that it wasn't a graphic novel or rewritten/adapted for children (so for example that second one in your list, https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1..., is the Classics Illustrated edition so it can't be combined with the regular one). I think I got them right but wow, there are a lot of editions!!!

For the two-volume set, there is a series, see here: https://www.goodreads.com/series/3511...

It might take a little while for the above changes to populate across the various editions, so check back in a day or so and then let me know if you think something still needs work.
