Lauren | 2157 comments Jules Verne's novel An Antarctic Mystery has been published both as a two-volume set and as a one-volume combined edition. The existing series only includes the editions on the two-volume set; the single-volume editions need to be added to the series.

The existing Goodreads series may be found here: https://www.goodreads.com/series/2950...

This edition needs to be added as an alternate edition of Book 1: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/3...

And this as an alternate of Book 2: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/3...

The single-volume editions are below. They need to be combined with one another and added to the series. Note that sometimes the title is changed to "The Sphinx of the Ice Fields" (or similar).

And finally, the bigger question: Should "An Antarctic Mystery" be considered a sequel to Edgar Allan Poe's "The Narrative of Arthur Gordon Pym of Nantucket"? Verne wrote it to be such, and takes up where Poe left off regarding the voyage of Arthur Gordon Pym to the Antarctic. Many editions combine both works together, for example: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/6...

However, I'm not clear on Goodreads' policy for creating series with unrelated authors.

Thanks for your help!

Michele | 6349 comments I don't think we'd put Poe's and Verne's books into a series. There are serieses that have different authors for different volumes but those are I think usually planned series, where the authors get together and write them, or perhaps where the author's estate explicitly authorizes a sequel. I mean, anybody can say that something is a sequel to something else, right?

I think I've cleaned up the rest of the issues. As with your other Verne queries, there are a ton of edition so it may take a while for the changes to populate to the different pages. Give it a day or so and if you still see issues, come back and let me know.

Thank you so so much for your work on these! Agree about the series, especially after looking at other books with sequels, official or otherwise (Gone with the Wind and Rebecca both have them, and they're not listed as a series).
