Also, I was thinking of doing away with the last time (Moreau's) so that we can move Elisabeth and myself, hopefully making the teams more fair. I was also talking with Tuva about letting graphic novels count, but the total amount of points (including page points and book prompts) would be halved.

I'm going to make these changes later today if there aren't any objections:)

I personally think it’s going to be easier if graphic novels don’t count because last time we did the half points that was very very confusing to keep track of points. And also, I don’t think graphic novel should count because to me that’s cheating. Most graphic novels are less than 100 pages.

That's true, but I think it will be easier than last time; last time page points were decimals, so we were constantly using decimals, versus now, since half points are only for graphic novels, it will be simpler. And graphic novels less than 100 pages wouldn't count:)

I mean, we can wait and see what the other mods are but to me that just means that if somebody decides to read the diary of a Wimpy kid for example, and you’ve got another person reading twilight that doesn’t seem fair. I feel like if people are going to be reading graphic novels, then it shouldn’t count at all because it’s not really a book unlike twilight that’s a 500 page book and it’s an actual chapter book. I also don’t think it would be fair to the other people who are actually reading books and getting points for their team. That’s just my point of view but we can wait and see what the other mod think I said I don’t think it’s fair at all if graphic novels comic books all that stuff count.

I think that the half point was a little confusing as well but at the same time I don’t have an issue with graphic novels counting for points in a challenge. Just maybe they need to be at least 100 pages?

Hmm, it is true (as V and Tuva said) that one can read graphic novels extremely quickly if you don't soak in the illustrations. I think we won't count graphic novels this challenge, but what do y'all think of creating a challenge only for graphic novels? I'm not sure how many people read them, but if there are, say, 8 or more people who want to participate, that might be a fun thing to do in the future. I can set up a poll later.

I'm reading really sporadically and jumping from one book to another a lot. Actually, I'm not sure I'll be able to finish a chapter book in October 😂

So if one team is really behind in points, I might join them so I can do some activity prompts, but currently I'm not planning on participating (I actually put my reading speed as "0" 😆). So much for "motivating myself to read more" 😂😂😂

Hello ladies! I have been looking at people logging books for the current reading challenge and it seems like people are not getting many points for reading the book but there are wayyyyyy less book prompts…….. do you guys think we should add more prompts?

Like for example…… if I was to log my current book, I can’t log any book prompts because none of them work. I could only log activity and miscellaneous.

Hey ladies! I could really use some prayers right now.... I have family in Florida right now and they are suffering from this Hurricane Milton just keep them in prayer. This nasty hurricane is damaging Florida really bad. Wind gusts up to 220 miles per hour, flood warnings, and my family has already evacuated the area since it's so bad. Alot of homes have been demolished, businesses are demolished etc.

Thank you, Catherine. I appreciate that and like I said I’m gonna try and be active as I can but every October November, December and January. I get a lot of sinus infections and a nasty cough so I’m gonna try to cope with it as best I can, but we’ll see.

Sorry about that! I got your message and meant to, but I was in the middle of something and didn't get to send the invites out. Only 10 people ended up voting- can you possibly reopen the poll so I can send invites out? We still have a little more than a week until the end of October, so timing wise it should be fine.

I reopened the poll and it is not going to be closed on the 26th, and I just sent 546 invites.

I turned off hiding the results in hopes that people would choose the books that have more votes (over the books that only have a couple votes) so that a clear winner would emerge. The Reappearance of Rachel Price has the most at 9 votes, and then after that the votes are more evenly distributed, unfortunately. Renegades is next with 6 votes.

Oh, I hoped that a clearer winner would win for the second book, but since the poll ended yesterday, sure, I'll create the thread for Renegades. I think I'll just bring back the thread you made a couple of days ago.

I'll also wait to announce the BOTM until the end of the Harvest of Horrors challenge (since it ends on Halloween, I'll send a broadcast November 1st or 2nd) so that members don't feel like they're being bombarded by broadcasts.

Hi y'all, I won't be active from this Wednesday to December 4th :( I'll send out an early newsletter before then and a newsletter after I come back to announce December's BOTMs.

Is there any way we can end December's BOTMs nominations early and create the poll so that the newsletter can include the link to it? If needed, I can create the poll, or it's also okay if y'all think it's too early to create the poll. Please let me know!
