Do you mean if you should log your books on both teams you’re moderating in or just not logging any book you read?

Yeah, I mean if I should even log my books that I’m reading since I’m in two groups, I don’t feel like that would be fair?
Well technically you’re only in one group, Winterberry and in the other you’re just keeping track so since I did count your reading speed for Winterberry I don’t think it’s unfair for you to log your books in that team. What do you think?
And this is what I’ve been working on for a challenge, I used the template that Catherine always uses.
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1h...
It would still need more book prompts and activity prompts. I also don’t know what you all will think of the name and team names? Let me know if you like it and if you don’t it’s totally fine we can keep thinking and planning or if you already have your own ideas that’s okay too :)

Another name that just came to mind which I am fine with is Yosemite National Park! And I will make sure I look at the template and type all book prompts right and point system is right. Who wants to announce the new reading challenge this time?

Yeah there’s a lot of park ideas! I think we should wait to announce the challenge until after we are fully done preparing it and once all the mods agree so that we’ll all be on the same page, no? Besides the current challenge doesn’t end for a few weeks :)

And when you say who wants to announce the next challenge, do you mean who will create the sign up chat?
Yes I mean who wants to create the next sign up chat! But yes we all need to be on the same page before thread is made!
I'm good with two BOTMs!
Ana, great ideas!!! Thank you so much! I'm really excited:))
Can we add points if books are under 50 pages? Like "Under 100 pages=+0.5 points?"
Also, are you OK if I edit some things (I can add links to some book prompts, add some book/activity prompts as I think of them, etc.?

I don’t think that we should do half points in general or books that are under 100 pages. I honestly don’t think that’s fair and it does kinda get confusing with half points. It just makes things 10 times harder to keep track of and my opinion.

Yeehawwlovesbooks wrote: "Catherine, are you also OK if we start doing two book of the month this month?"
I think it might be a little late, but I don't mind. Also, to reduce the amount of books that are on the poll, we could only put books that are thirded (I know that's not a word, LOL) on the poll. That way we know more than 2 people are interested in reading each book.

So next month just so I am understanding the book only goes on the pole if it is thirded (lol) or has more than two votes for next month is that correct?
I think so yes. So like for April we'll have 2 BOTM from the books that are already seconded and then I think for May only books that are thirded go on to the poll. I think I understood it like that 😅 but since only books that are thirded move on will we still have 2 BOTM?
That is a good point. I’m still trying to decide if we should just stick with a book being seconded that goes on the poll because I feel like if we do two votes for one book that’s gonna get confusing.
I personally think that we should still stick to two book of the month that way we don’t have to limit the rule of how many books people can suggest. But for May’s book of the month I think we should do something like how we keep the extra votes in the comments tally up however, many points that book has.
So, for example, if I suggest people we meet on vacation and somebody else second that then that book should go on the poll, but keep extra votes and count the extra votes into the actual final results. Does that make sense?

Cause sometimes a single book will be seconded by a lot of people and I think for the April nominees Renegades, The Naturals and I can’t remember which other one was suggested by multiple people and seconded by multiple too so I wouldn’t be opposed to counting all of those extra votes too, whether we start for April or for May.
I also think that since sometimes the chat thread for the BOTM is posted as ‘BOTM discussion for month’ or sometimes as the actual book title, now that we’re going to have 2 BOTM we really need to write the title of the book in the title of the chat no?
I think it would be hard to keep track extra votes, and only thirded books (books that actually have a chance of winning) should go on the poll, but I'm not running BOTM and I don't think it makes a huge difference, so *shrugs
I'm good with whatever easiest/makes the most sense to you! :D

Hello ladies how are you guys doing today? I had another idea for the group. I don’t know if you guys want to do this, but it would be a moderator read.
So to go into detail, each of us mods pick one book that we want to host for our reading it could be any genre. Any book doesn’t have to be a thriller or anything like that any book that’s been on your list. So you guys get to pick your start date and anybody that wants to join can join and we can all chat about the book. So, for example, I would host twilight Anna would host a book McKenzie would pick a book and Katherine would pick a book and then whoever joins joins. What are you guys think about that no or yes? I’m just trying to get one books off my to be read and I think it would be fun because people that have never heard of those books can join if they want.

Hey V I’m good! I hope you all are too :)
Ooohhh I like this idea! It could be a lot of fun!
Could people join multiple mod pick reads or only one? For example if you and I pick similar start dates would people be able to join both of us if they want or only one of us?

And if we pick books that we haven’t read before would it be required for everyone who joins to also not have read the book before also? Or if we pick a book to reread would the people who join also be rereading? Or does it not matter?
No, it can be a reread it can be something you’ve never read before it can be any and multiple people can join multiple if they wanted to join mine or yours or Catherine’s or all of them they can. And there’s no hard feelings if people don’t want to join that’s the big key about this whole idea is I don’t want people to be butt hurt oh people didn’t join my mod read you know I just think it would be fun and a different way for books that are not as common to be read. Does that make sense?
Like in my other group, I’m hosting a mod read for binding 13.
Like in my other group, I’m hosting a mod read for binding 13.
If both Mackenzie and Catherine agree would we start in April? And would we do it every month or depending on how often each mod wants to do it?
And this is not a situation where you guys have to host a random book every month it could be a gut feeling of maybe some people wanna read this you know it can be that too. It doesn’t have to be an every month thing. It’s just a fun read where you pick a random book And you get to chat about it with people who join the discussion.
Okay sounds good! :) and if we do this maybe we could also add that to the next challenge points like with the buddy read no?
So you’re saying, if you host a book and the people that are reading that book with you if they’re on your team you can get points for that is that what you’re saying?
Yeehawwlovesbooks wrote: "So you’re saying, if you host a book and the people that are reading that book with you if they’re on your team you can get points for that is that what you’re saying?"
The people that participate in a mod pick read get points for whatever book they join in and the points get added to whatever challenge team they are in, does that make sense? 🤔😅 if it makes things too confusing we don’t have to add points to it and we can just ignore what I said lol

No, I was talking about like all around just reading in general. Now I’m sure if there is a reading challenge, taking place whatever mods, and whatever books we choose, could add towards that.
My only thing with let’s see there is a reading challenge going on and it’s points that they can earn towards their team. Meaning, let’s say the moderator read is a full eight points now let’s say Susie is on my team, but she joins your moderator book at that point I don’t know if it would be fair that she gets the full amount of points because she read the book or if she gets half because she’s not on that team. But then again, I’m thinking just because somebody’s on your team doesn’t mean they can’t get points. I don’t know maybe I’m just confusing myself I mean I wouldn’t mind if it counted for points, but I was just talking about in general like all around Reading.
Oh okay I hadn’t understood your initial question my bad :)
Yes I meant getting points for reading challenges. And to use your example if Susie is in your team and joins my mod book then I think she should get full points added to your team because I don’t think it would be too fair to only give her half points because she didn’t choose to read from her own team mod book no? Because what if during that reading challenge one mod doesn’t have any mod books then that team wouldn’t be able to get extra points no?
So if we decide to add points to it, it would be like ‘Participate in ANY moderator pick book’ no? Or do we just not add any points to it and keep it for just fun and chat about book?

I don’t know about the points I mean it would be nice. Don’t get me wrong but I agree if Susie is on my team and she reads your pic then she gets the full amount of points for it because I want it to be where people can get points and it’s not about oh, since you didn’t pick my book you don’t get your points you know I don’t want it to sound like that. But I am also fine with just keeping it chill and just keeping it a chat thread to where everybody can chat about the book.
Okay yeah I’m also good with either adding points or not so I guess now we just wait to see what Mackenzie and Catherine vote on :)
I’m in the same boat. I’m good with either. We’ll wait and see what both of those girls have to say and then we’ll go from there.
I'm willing to start in April! Is this kind of like a buddy read with a mod and can start anytime? like let's say I finish the book halfway through April and want to start another, would that be fine. Or if it takes longer than a month?
Also I agree with the full points for the read with a mod because the person would still be participating in the event and would only be far if they got full points for it!

Yeah, like if you guys finish and you feel like you wanna host three mod reads in a month you can just because one of the mods isn’t finished with their read doesn’t mean you can’t start a new one.
