When Lucy gave Doreen her card and told her to contact her, I guessed that she figured out that Doreen had been raped. I don't know if Padre had no idea that it had occurred, or if Doreen had told him in confidence and he was surprised that Lucy figured it out.
I agree. Lucy recognized the signs and could relate to Doreen's fear. I don't think Padre thought about rape. He probably thought Juarez used intimidation and threats to get her in line, but not rape.
I agree with both of you. Do you think Padre also thought maybe the reason Lucy knew was because of a shared experience?
I agree with Jonetta, Padre thought they had shared a similar experience and I also think he knew it was rape. I don't believe he knew what had happened to Lucy.
I'm not sure about Padre. Maybe after Lucy gave Doreen her card he may have figured it out. Men don't think rape immediately, at least in my experience.
That’s what we’re referring to. It’s the moment when Lucy stepped forward and told Doreen she knew what had been done to her and to not bury it. She then gave her the card and Padre gave her that strange look.
You're probably right. Padre realized that Lucy knew what happened to Doreen because she had experienced the same thing.
