Joan | 39 comments I've read EVERY Stephen King book including Rage (a Bachman short story) which is no longer available. I agree with the fact that this story was taken out of circulation as it deals with a school shooter and given how many kids started playing Mailbox Baseball after Stand By Me came out I agree what Rage is far too suggestive for the crazies out there today.

Nick Iuppa | 4272 comments The fact that the class sided with the killer in RAGE, and together they all turned on one of the students, was really distressing. Also, I'm pretty sure that, after one of the earlier classroom shootings, the killer was found to have a copy of RAGE.

I did not know that one of the school shooters had a copy of Rage. Do you remember which one?

Joan | 39 comments I didn't know about a school shooter having a copy of the story either. Yikes!

message 6: by Michael (new)

Michael Roch | 173 comments There were a handful of incidents where a student took hostages in the late 80s through the late 90s, and the hostage taker/shooter had a copy of Rage. No one was hurt in the early incidents, but people were killed in the later tragedies. In one, a student was upset on getting a C on his essay on Rage. After three were killed in late 1997, King let the book fall out of print.

Thanks for the details, Michael. I didn't remember the details of the link between rage and the specific shooting.

I still have my copy of The Bachman Books, with Rage in it, on my shelf. It was a Christmas gift back in the day.

That may be the one I have too. I know I have a book with Rage in it, that must be it.

Kandice | 4387 comments I think Cujo holds up really well despite its age, and its a stand-alone, so how could you go wrong there? If you can find the movie, it's well worth the watch. Dee Wallace is a Power house!
