I know this is an August buddy read, but my library got it a little early for me so I started reading this last night and I'm loving it so far.

Most, if not all, of my buddy reads revolve around my library’s timing so I get it! I am 11th in line (with 6 copies) so hopefully mid-month I’ll get to start reading.

I'm planning to read The Woman in the Library first then maybe this one next week.

I started this one last night. Reached page 38 before bed. I'm intrigued by what has happened to Tova's son. I'm enjoying the small chapters from Marcellus. (view spoiler)[I love how he keeps track of time based on the day# of his captivity. He reminds me of a grumpy garfield sneaking out of his tank in search of delicacies (hide spoiler)]

I'm on page 200. I'm really enjoying the Marcellus narrated chapters. They're too short! LOL

I'm also enjoying Tova and her struggles with what to do next and Ethan's observations of everyone.

But (view spoiler)[ while I understand that Cameron didn't have the best of it growing up, I'm struggling with his attitude and irresponsibility and choices. I'm also having a problem with staying motivated to continue reading and I'm not sure if it's because of Cameron or if it's just that this genre is not for me. It doesn't usually take me 5 days to finish a book. Now that I see where Cameron's story is going, hopefully it will pick up for me. (hide spoiler)]

I flew through the last third of the book. My middle of the book observations really didn't change all that much.

(view spoiler)[I still loved Marcellus all the way to the end. I enjoyed Tova and Ethan and the way their story was continuing. I was happy that Cameron had some character growth by the end, and that he now has more family to support him in the future. I'm especially glad that Tova has him. However, it didn't change my previous view of reading through his parts earlier in the book. I just didn't enjoy his character. (hide spoiler)]

Well, I finally got it! And then I was super under-whelmed. It started out strong and then just went downhill. Oh well, it is off the TBR now so not all is lost. Thanks for reading it with me Kristy (and sorry it took so long for my copy to get in!)

Sounds like you didn't like it any more than I did. Oh well, on to the next!
