Jess (coffeeshopthrillers) | 131 comments Here are my entries for the month of August:

Our Daughter's Bones by Ruhi Choudhary
Jar of Hearts by Jennifer Hillier
A Noise Downstairs by Linwood Barclay

Which one should I read?

Ann (annrumsey) | 17005 comments Jess, all three sound nightmare inducing, especially The Noise Downstairs. And each in its own way sounds intriguing. I’ll have to think about my vote a bit more, so might change it. For now, go full out creepy with The Noise Downstairs, that typewriter sounds like a mystery to uncover.

Carol/Bonadie (bonadie) | 9521 comments Jess, I love finding a new series, so Our Daughter's Bones intrigued. I wish I knew what country it is set in; something non-US would increase its appeal. Jar of Hearts sound good but I have to agree with Ann on A Noise Downstairs. Although I will NOT be reading it as it would give me nightmares I am sure! Let us know.

Donnajo | 4361 comments I'm new to this so here goes. I haven't read any of the books. But I have seen and heard good reviews on Jennifer Hillier's book from friends on goodreads. I love the cover too. (sorry I didn't pick the same as Ann or Carol but if I had to pick a second book Our Daughter's Bones sounds intriguing never read author before).

Ann (annrumsey) | 17005 comments Lol Jess will have to read all three too! I can’t believe I’m tempted to read three nightmare inducing books.

Jess (coffeeshopthrillers) | 131 comments Ha-ha Ann! I probably will too! Karin Slaughter is our Author of the month of August in my local book club, so I know I have to read at least 1 and it will probably be Pieces of Her but knowing how I read, I may just read them all.

message 7: by Carol/Bonadie (new)

Carol/Bonadie (bonadie) | 9521 comments Did you notice that Pieces of Her has been made into a series featuring Toni Collette that is streaming on Netflix? I also see that Goodreads has it as #1 in a series. I didn't realize this was part of a series.

message 8: by Jess (new)

Jess (coffeeshopthrillers) | 131 comments Carol: Pieces of Her is book 1, book 2 Girl, Forgotten will be a new release next month. That is why we chose Karin Slaughter as August's Author of the Month for the anticipation of the next in the series.

My book club plans to watch the Series together after reading the book.

Ann (annrumsey) | 17005 comments Carol and Jess and for those who haven't seen it yet, Pieces of Her on Netflix was very good. I am a bit surprised Karin is doing the next book as a series book two and am interested in seeing how that works.

I read an e-galley of Girl, Forgotten and even though I am a die-hard RIO person. i think it can stand on it's own. from what I remember (and take that with a grain of salt..lol)- andy oliver is the mc in girl and there were a few references to pieces.
