Just finished reading the book. I have to say I didn't like it as much as the first book. Somehow I felt the male characters Miano focused on in this book were less well developed than the female characters were in the first volume. I had also expected that she would continue her examination of the effects of the patriarchy, but focusing on men this time. However, I didn't find that to be very present and in the end I wasn't quite sure what Miano was trying to tell us through the stories of Amok, Regal/Charles-Branson and Shrapnel (am also wondering why the story of the father wasn't included). Curious to see what anyone else's thoughts were on this book.

I finished yesterday and feel the same about it as you do, Valerie. I really loved the first book, but this second one did not seem to add much. Less well structured, it also got lost into some weird fantasy (especially the last part of Shrapnel) that did not really fit into the story to me.
