When Tracy shares her concerns about Andrea with Kins, he plays devil’s advocate and presents reasonable alternatives for the issues she raises. Was he being reasonable or too dismissive?

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3474 comments This discussion made me angry with Kins. They all know Nolasco wants Tracy off the team. I expected Kins to be an advocate for Tracy. I didn't expect him to make excuses for Nolasco.

I felt deep disappointment. Tracy had every right to be paranoid given Nolasco’s history and what Andrea said to her. I could see if he wanted to offer her other alternatives but he was really dismissive of her fears.

Robin (robinmy) | 2450 comments Face it. Most guys are dismissive when a woman is being a little paranoid about the behavior of another woman (many times rightfully so). They believe that the first woman is jealous of the other. Or they don't see the behavior that is right in front of their noses. I thought this was typical for the situation.

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3474 comments Robin I would agree with you if it was anyone but the people on her team. Kins is her partner and knows how badly Nolasco treats her. This was out of character for Kins in my opinion.

I’m agreeing with Sharon. Tracy has already proven herself with her team after almost twenty years. She’s not the jealous type and they know that. I wonder how they would have felt if the situation had been reversed. Tracy would have backed them.

When I was working, my peers were mostly men and after some years, they came to respect and understand how I would and wouldn’t react. I recall one time when I let somebody get under my skin and did something I immediately regretted. None of my male peers said anything or tried to do anything until I cleaned it up. They came to me later and said they didn’t know what to do because it was so unusual for me.

That’s why I thought Kins should have taken her seriously. Turns out she had the situation wrong but had every reason to believe something was completely off.

I felt like Kins was trying to play devil's advocate - give voice to every possible scenario. Lay all the possibilities on the table so they could examine them. He did come across as too uncaring, but I felt like he was trying to help Tracy look at every side. No way Tracy would be jealous of another female officer - she's worked hard to get to where she is and I think would have respect for another female who did the same. I think Andrea gave her reason to suspect something was up and her radar was pinging.

~Melissa~ | 429 comments It upset me that he wasn't supportive of how Tracy felt but I could see him playing devil's advocate and try to put all the possibilities out there for Tracy. His comments to her on possibly not wanting to come back after her maternity leave I think for sure hit a raw nerve for Tracy. This could be her and Dan's only child. However, I don't see her quitting.

I don't think Tracy is the jealous type either and I didn't think she was overreacting. This all had to do with the relationship between her and Nolasco - which isn't good on the best of days.
