Things My Son Needs to Know About the World is a very funny book with stories a father is ostensibly telling his son to teach him about life. There are some wonderful messages buried within stories where the father reveals sometimes embarrassing things about his own life, parenting skills, marriage, friends, single life, and stupid things he's said or done. He gives his son advice about love, dealing with bullies, why you need a best friend, why you should form a band, and more. When I first picked up the book I wasn't in the mood for the silly humor about babys and poop, but I do remember those days. I picked it up again last night and really enjoyed it. He uses a lot of cultural references that mostly guys would appreciate, with other examples that women will love.

Yes, I knew I would like it better at a later time. I listened to part of it in the E.R. and it helped me deal with the long wait.
