Dani (swiftgilmoreading) | 1 comments Ok- so, I kind of agree with you even tho I don’t like him that much. I’ve rewatched the whole series like more than 10 times already and I still think that maybe the way that he said that to Rory wasn’t so right, but he may have a point. But I also think some other people gave Rory criticism before, just not that- hard. And yes, Lorelai, Emily and Richard influenced in the fact that Rory wouldn’t react so good to advice or criticism, she was always treated like the best kid, the best student, which until one point was true, but she should’ve realized before that not everything in life is that easy, there are some things that you can’t change even though you put so much effort in it. Rory made many mistakes before the yacht incident, like when she and Dean… you know, but I think the fact that Lorelai ‘forgived’ her so ‘easily’, is what also didn’t help Rory to face the consequences of her actions and just made her think- it’s okay. But apart from what Mitchum Huntzberger said to Rory, which I think for me wasn’t soo right, he actually isn’t a very nice person. The way he treated Logan and pushed him to work somewhere he didn’t even want to, how he confronted Richard when arguing about Rory, and I think also- how he just acted so nice to Rory during Logan’s birthday dinner; which it’s just so contradictory to what he said like 1 or 2 seasons before and made me think, has he even been honest at some point? But idk, it’s just my opinion and I totally respect what you think ‘cause you do have some interesting points there

Francesca | 1 comments On the one hand, he’s an arrogant and brash man who was an absent father. His actions and his lack of attention whilst expecting perfection of Logan are direct causes of that rebellious streak in Logan, which later spurs Rory’s rebellion. He’s the typical rich white WASP dad, and for that reason alone I severely dislike him. On the other hand, I don’t think his criticism of Rory was unfounded. Throughout her whole life she has been put on this pedestal that holds her way higher than her peers, and the first time she wasn’t heralded for her efforts while coasting along was when Mitchum didn’t sing her praises. She needed to be grounded and humbled because honestly, she had become very arrogant.

TLDR; I think he’s a twat but his critique of Rory was not unfounded and she needed to be brought back to reality.

Baylen Fava Yes he deserves the hate because he never even let Logan decide his own future and pulled him away from his life to make him move to london. Although Logan was acting out and being irresponsible I think that he could’ve handled the situation better

Anna Kate | 8 comments No he formed Rory in a good way I think!

samantha aly | 17 comments i'm kind of mixed on this one. i think he was a horrible father, no doubt about that. He also could have been kinder to Rory whenever he gave her criticism.

However, Rory shouldn't have fallen apart like that. All her life, she thought she was better than everyone else, and he was saying, "no you aren't". I do understand how it could be a weird situation with it being your boyfriend's dad, but that's no excuse for how she overreacted

Sheridan Read I think in terms of participating in not wanting logan and Rory to marry. yeah, kinda. there was no real reason for disapproval. if there was a genuine concern for her and logan being together. I would understand it. but there wasn't.
the whole critism of Rory and her working in journalism was exceptional and made me put him on a pedestal. he is allowed his opinion, should be targeted my Rory's grandparents and his opinion does need to be seen as legit. he is in the journalism business. if anything he would WANT Rory to be talented so he could approve, maybe.

sosi✮ (skywalker’s version) | 55 comments maybe he sometimes was way too rude, but he was the first one giving rory criticism.
