Ok - I think I've sent PMs to those members that need to update their settings to receive private messages.

In case I missed someone and they read this thread:

Assuming you do not have your profile set to private, to update your settings under your profile to allow non-friends to send you messages (because GR forced a change to our settings a few months ago)

Check the following:
* click on your Profile
* edit profile
* along the top tabs, click on Account Settings
* scroll down to 'who can send me private messages' and update to 'anyone'
* click 'save account settings' down the bottom.
