Have you read the Harry Potter series? That's definitely must-read fantasy. Also, A Song of Ice and Fire (Game of Thrones) is great. I've only read the first two in the series as they are a little more challenging with lots of different characters and stories. I would say both of those are the most popular in the fantasy genre right now.

I have the whole Game of Thrones series but haven't started reading them yet. I bought them because I loved the TV series so much...
Kieron wrote: "Nancy check out Scott Lynch, Joe Abercrombie and Robin Hobb."Thanks, Kieron. I have actually read The Lies of Locke Lamora when NBRC did it as a BOM which I really enjoyed, but where would I start with Joe Abercrombie and Robin Hobb? Are there any books in particular?
The Name of My Wind is easily my favorite fantasy series, glad to hear you liked it! :)Blood Song is a good one, it's the first of three with the third set to be released this summer. The depth of worldbuilding is really good and the author uses subtle foreshadowing hints (like Rothfuss!) which I love.
The Crimson Campaign is another first of three. It's quite different from NotW, more of a militaristic fantasy, but it's also really unique in it's magic.
