1. Marshall Karp is 80, which is about 40 years older than I thought he was. He's actually older than Patterson.
2. There are seven NYPD Red books! I thought there were only like four. I read the first one and liked it, but never progressed further because the library's sole copy was out of circulation due to repairs.

To Rise Again at a Decent Hour does sound quirky!

The Secret Witness: Victor Methos
Amazon 1st. Half the book is the hunt for the killer, half is the trial. The protagonists are a female sheriff and an ex prosecutor who was stabbed at his last trial, and is now a partial invalid. I’ll credit this with not just being a good murder mystery, but in going places that other similar books do not. (B+)"

I am one of those read in order types. The books do contain references to things past, and some of them are sequels to previous books, so you take a chance going out of order. I would add to that that the series has had some author changes, also might affect order.

The Burglar in the Library sounds good, as do several others on your list. You're also reminding me of another book about the Trump presidency that I've been meaning to read.

Don't have to tell me twice....I'll start at the beginning! LOL..I don't like reading out of order anyway ;)

I also finished The Dark Flood by Deon Meyer. Very good. There were several stories going on at the same time but he kept all of them moving forward without the reader having any difficulty keeping several stories moving along.

Snowstorm in August: Marshall Karp
Karp, freed of his servitude to Patterson brings his NYPD RED crew onto new ground fighting a drug lord while resolving a number of sub plots. Good action, lots to keep up your interest. (A-)
The Secret Witness: Victor Methos
Amazon 1st. Half the book is the hunt for the killer, half is the trial. The protagonists are a female sheriff and an ex prosecutor who was stabbed at his last trial, and is now a partial invalid. The Steal:Mark Bowden/Matthew Teague
Non Fiction- the story of the Trump effort to overturn the 2020 election. (B+)
What Happened to the Bennets: Lisa Scottoline
A suburban mystery. A few twists and turns, but I had trouble suspending disbelief for this one. Story revolves around a mobster killing a man;s daughter during a carjacking, and the conspiracies that followed. (B)
The Burglar in the Library: Lawrence Block
A real cozy, where 2 feet of snow fall, the telephone lines are cut and the bridge out is sabotaged, and members of the company present start getting killed off one by one. (B)
A Game of Birds and Wolves: Simon Parken
Non fiction. The efforts of the British, using game theory, to find a strategy to defeat the U boat menace (B)
To Rise Again at a Decent Hour: Joshua Ferris
A quirky book about a dentist who finds his identity being stolen piece by piece by a man who only wishes to help him find himself. Interesting concept of an atheist who wants to convert to Judaism to become an atheist Jew, and for you Boston types, devotion to the Red Socks; hatred for the Yankees, and a shout out to the Chicago Cubs. (B)
Category 5: Philip Donaly
Why not use a nuclear bomb to stop a hurricane? (B-)
