SOLVED. Vampire Hunter taught by older vampire hunter actions series

I read the book series around 4~ years ago, not sure if they were still posting new books at the time
The stuff I remember:
There is an older dude that teaches a younger boy kid (around 13 years of age? Some teen) about vampire hunting. There is something about killing the vampire in which you have to bury the vampire as well or something along those lines.
Somewhere in the series the boy falls in love with a girl that turns out to be a vampire but it's not that important
Either the boy or the teacher loses his finger sometime
(Not 100% sure if this part is in this series but I'm pretty sure it is - early on in the book series the boy doesn't feel like being a vampire hunter so the teacher sends him out to someone else to teach him whom he runs away from and yet comes back to eventually due to vampires and the teacher had his dogs sent after him to make sure he stays alive) 99% sure it's in it though

Correction: It’s about witches, not vampires - and I found the series, it’s called The Last Apprentice

Just to be sure, your book is Revenge of the Witch by Joseph Delaney, first book of The Last Apprentice series?
