aw I'm sad I won't make it the bookswap idea sounds like such a blast! another time.
I may not be able to make it now, as Hubby has just tested positive for COVID and I'm expecting to go down with it too, although I haven't yet.
My son's just tested positive as well. I don't think there's a hope of me being there.

All the best while you’re looking after your husband and son - and hoping you can dodge getting it yourself!I’m not well this weekend either, but when I did a rapid test yesterday evening it was negative, so just a cold?? It’s either another cold or an ongoing battle with this cold that I cannot seem to shake properly ever since early May!! I had 2 clear weeks but now it’s reared its head again, so I hope I’ll be there next Sunday, but will have to wait and see!

Thanks for the good wishes, but unfortunately, I've tested positive now as well. My throat feels like it's on fire.
And I’m out for Sunday as well!! Since I wasn’t well on the weekend I went off for a PCR test yesterday and it has come back positive! (Interestingly, my rapid test is still neg - I never trusted them!)So I can’t come Sunday either. Jane, Alda and Angela, are you still happy to meet with just the three of you, or would you rather reschedule? I’m away the first half of Aug, and I think Alda’s away in Aug too (is it for all of August, Alda?), so we’d have to leave it until at least September to reschedule. But it’s up to the three of you what you’d rather do!
Sorry you’re feeling so rotten, Lynne! I feel like I’m already on the mend, as long as there isn’t a twist in the tail of COVID for me!
On the plus side, I should certainly heal well with another 6 days of no work and no going anywhere or doing anything!! Lots of time for reading!!
Pretty much all of September is out for me. I could do August, as long as it's not the 20th.
Hi all, I'm happy to reschedule. This would be my first catch up and would like to meet as many of you that I can all at once! Maybe leaving it until late Aug\September would be a little warmer? Or less wet!
That’s fair, Angela! But it sounds like September will be out for Lynne. And we can wait for Alda to weigh in about August for her, but I’m pretty sure she was going away for 4 weeks, and I’ll be away the first 2 weekends in August… How is October looking for people?
I can't do 8 or 9 October but I should be okay after that.

I'm okay with any date in October.Hopefully everyone will be well and COVID free then and the weather will definitely be warmer.

Bad news about COVID everyone :( Unfortunately I'm going to confuse the issue further as I'm away from about 21st September to 21st October in UK and Spain. But I think someone is going to have to miss out with us all going away at different times!
The intricacies of our calendars seems to be growing and the possibility of getting common dates free seems to be decreasing! I suppose we may just need to have a couple of dates and whoever can make it can come, and if you can’t, you can’t!So what do people think about Sun, August 21st and Sat, October 15? And if anyone wanted another date, especially if you can’t make either of those dates, I’d be happy to come along sometime in September as well - probably a Saturday.
I can’t make the August one myself, but I know that date works well for some of you. And we probably just need to be a bit flexible in our planning in this COVID-y world!! If people get sick, it’s inevitable that some plans will need to be changed!!

Change of plan!! Because so many people are away or otherwise busy on Aug 21st, we'll postpone until October - we'll make it October 29th, at this stage, and cross our fingers that there is less sickness around by then!
We are getting together on Sunday, July 10th at a venue yet to be decided, but it will be somewhere in Brisbane's South Bank area.
If you are interested, please put your names down in this thread, and I will advise you by private message with details of the venue once the numbers are confirmed. The Mystery Book Swap is always fun, so we'll do it again.
Mystery Book Swap
1. Bring along one book to the venue to give away – any genre, it can be a new book but a gently-loved book in good condition is also perfectly acceptable.
2. Wrap the book in whatever paper you have at home.
3. Place a tag on the wrapping with the description of the genre.
4. Each participant's name will be placed in a hat, and when your name is drawn, you can select a mystery book from the pile.
And feel free to bring along any books that you’d like to find a new home for. You are very welcome to ask other people for books even if you don't have any to actually swap - most of us just want to clear our shelves so there's room to buy more books! If you want to list books here to see if anyone's interested so you don't have to lug them all in, you're very welcome to do that as well!
