Every Exquisite Thing by Cassandra Clare and Maureen Johnson
Summary: Anna Lightwood, eldest child of Gabriel and Cecily, is mad, bad and dangerously dapper. Every rake has an origin story, though: now under Brother Zachariah’s eye we see Anna’s doomed love story unfold.
My thoughts: I liked how open this story was about Anna’s sexual orientation. I wish this would’ve been a full book instead of a blip mixed with other stories. Cassandra Clare has a prominent representation of LGBTQ+ but no one as the main character of any of her books have been part of the community.
I really identified with Anna’s character and that’s probably one of the reasons I liked her so much. She is the first character in a while that I’ve enjoyed in the Shadowhunter world. She isn’t a reused character that has the same traits as all other Shadowhunters.
