While Mary Lou left a lot to be desired during her courtship and later marriage to Sam, she seemed to have learned an awful lot from him. What did she do right in this story?

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3501 comments She did her best to protect the people she loved, Halley, Ihbraham, and to some extent Sam.

Mary Lou made a lot of right moves, many of them based on stuff Sam had told her. The biggest one was not stopping at her house when she saw that strange man lingering outside. It saved her life but doomed Janine. It was also smart for her to cover her tracks and return to Sarasota. Saying Hayley was a boy was also smart. Bless Whitney’s heart as she was trying to do something nice for Mary Lou but for her, Mary Lou would have stayed safe.

Robin (robinmy) | 2466 comments Mary Lou was actually listening when Sam gave advice about hiding in an area that had already been searched (Sarasota), changing her identity, and staying off the grid. She made some smart moves.

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 1812 comments I still cannot stand Mary Lou.
Yes, she has grown and changed and perhaps become a better person, but she is still selfish and self-absorbed. Her past actions are inexcusable.

Anita (anitanodiva) | 2973 comments I agree with Jonetta. Mary Lou listened to Sam and stayed alive because of it. Mary Lou had a lot of growing up to do. She found out quick that her body was not enough to make a marriage work. She found out that her baby is the most important person in the world. Good people come in all colors

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3501 comments Even though I think Mary Lou changed, I can't stand her either.
