Symes abducts two little girls and cruelly holds Kim’s neighbor Edna hostage in her home. Did you think any of them would survive?

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3501 comments I was so tense from the moment he took the girls. I was sure that they would be killed. I hoped that Kim found Edna in time, but I wasn't sure that she would live.

This all left me so scared and anxious. I was sure Edna was history but couldn’t lose hope for those girls. I also feared he’d just torture them in the meantime.

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) Pretty high probability that one or all would end up dead. It was out of left field that it was Rachel a main player in the other case who would be the casualty in this book.

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3501 comments I didn't think that it was out of left field. I thought it was because Symes was following Kim and wanted her to know he was watching.

No, didn’t feel out of left field by the end. Very consistent with Symes scheme.

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) By being out of left field I meant that it was highly probably that someone involved in the Symes case would unfortunately end up dead more than someone in the Daynes case. Although I suppose thinking on it a bit more, the perpetrator (Gavin) may have wanted all the Daynes dead in his vendetta. I wonder if Zac would have been next or Gavin genuinely loved him?

I think he planned on killing all the Daynes children. Zach was history.

Lynn (ftbooklover) Yes, I thought they were all going to die.
