Symes has a notorious history, given the crimes that put him in prison and his recent attempt to orchestrate Kim’s death from behind bars. Why would prison officials have unilateral discretion in allowing his temporary release/transport for any reason? Would you expect some notification system beyond their hierarchy?

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3501 comments This part of the story didn't ring realistic to me. I get that some prisoners can play a part to fool officials, but Symes was evil. There was no chance of rehabilitation. Regardless, I gave a hand wave and went with the flow.

Kim should have received some communication from the officials.

There seems to be some disconnect in the UK between the prison system and law enforcement. I’ve read about stuff like this but it would be highly unusual in the US.

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) Yes, agree with Sharon. Probably not realistic but makes for a good storyline.

Lynn (ftbooklover) I also agree that this wasn't realistic, but for the story, he had to break out somehow.
