Olga | 6 comments I have a hard time finishing a book within a month. If it’s REALLY interesting (and not too long) then perhaps I can do it in a week. But how do people read like a hundred books a year (or even say…40?)! Please skip the audiobook answer, I’d like to know how it’s possible to literally read so many books while “doing” life. I don’t see how there is enough hours in the day. Is there some secret to magically read faster so that the brain can comprehend (and no, I donuts to the not read at the speed of reading out loud). There’s SO much I want to read! Please help!! Thank you!

R.S. Merritt | 50 comments I grew up on an island then moved to a lighthouse on the mainland. We didn't have cable. I READ a LOT. I really think it's just practice. My mom got me going at a super young age too which may have helped. I wouldn't stress too much about it. Relax and enjoy the read :-)

I often ask the same thing. I could say try Evelyn Wood (I'm dating myself here), but that's not practical. I retired recently, well-semi-retired, and thought I would have heaps of time to read because I love it so, but there is so much other stuff going on that there is no more time for it. I had hoped to knock off roughly a book a week, but that clearly has not happened. As R.S. said, relax and enjoy the read.
