Amar Iqbal has found "the one". Only problem is, Amar's fiance is a white man and Amar is a muslim of Bangladeshi heritage so, expecting ructions, he tells his family via text message. Which of his family will be happy for him? Which will shun him? How will Amar get on with his fiance's family? At the same time, life goes on and Amar also has to deal with the prospect of losing the job he enjoys and having to find another.
This is an extremely readable novel and I flew through it in one day. The author says it's not a romance but it is and I'd also call it a light read with deep themes. It's certainly thought provoking in terms of the difficulty Amar has with his family, his heritage and his religion and I will be thinking about it for some time.
